yes it flopped get over it.

even the gc sold more than that piece of sh*t
n*gga, shut the fu*k up. The sh*t was $99 for the longest while xbox was double the price and geared towards adults, it should have sold more. Parents would rather spend $99 on the household name, Nintendo, Vs $199 on the Xbox, something they've never heard of. If you think the Xbox is a piece of sh*t, and the Gamecube isnt, then your even dumber than you already made yourself sound. I dont think you can call selling 20 million systems a flop with all the sony d!ck ryders not wanting to give it a chance just b/c they're too stupid to know how to work a pc, and since they heard the name microsoft, pushed it off as a computer/game system.

I'll be getting a Xbox360 for sure, and maybe a PS3 if it lives up to the hype and is atleast as good as the Xbox360 and has ALOT of games that wont be on the xbox that are good, which knowing sony i doubt. But nothing ive seen really impresses me that much compared to what a high end pc can do now. Cant wait to see what PC graphics are gonna be looking like next year. If anyone has seen Far Cry or Doom 3 run on a high end pc at high res, 1600 x 1200 or up, you'll know what im talking about.

One thing no one has talked about is what format the xbox games are going to be on. Apparently, they will be on HDVD's which have yet to be released yet.

However Sony and Toshiba have entered into final preparations for a format which combines disk technology from Sony with software technology from Toshiba. The two companies plan to offer an unified format to members of their respective high definition video forums as early as next week.

Toshiba's decision to give way on the disk format was apparently made after examining cost issues related to the Sony technology. The merged format will make use of Sony's 0.1 millimeter Blu-ray disk technology with Toshiba's software in place for reading and writing from the disk and handling copyright protection. Toshiba's 0.6 millimeter HD-DVD disk technology will be dropped. The resulting technology will be offered as a new format. It's unclear at this point if the new format will adopt the Blu-ray or the HD-DVD name, or if something completely new will be used.

Sony announced late last year that the next generation PlayStation would make use of the Blu-ray format. The Nihon Keizai article reveals that, as part of the compromise, Blu-ray supporters Sony and Matsush*ta were demanding the highest possible storage space for future IT and game applications. This would suggest that, even though Blu-ray as it was known is gone, the new merged standard will end up serving as the format for PS3.

So if the next-gen DVD format IS blu-ray disc technology, then Sony will get a bit of bills from Microsoft. Not a lot, maybe 2 or 3 mill per 1000 discs, but thats pocket change for microsoft.

And Microsoft isn't collecting money from Sony. Get most of the information correct.

When the Immersion lawsuit was filed in 2002, microsoft just paid outright what the company asked for in damages which was between 25-26 million which earned them a 10% stake in the company. The liscening fee that sony has to pay to the Immerson company for keep selling their products while they appeal the 90 miliion dollar fine, Microsoft doesn't see a dime of it because Microsoft was not apart of the company when the lawsuit was filed. All the liscensing money goes striaght to the Immerson corp. That wouldn't very fair if the Immerson company had to give 10% of that Money to microsoft when they weren't in the process with them filing the suit against sony.

That would be like you bringing cookies to class to share and you had to share with the people that bullied you.

Sorry for the analogy, but that's the best I could think of :)

OH I know that. Just like how blu-ray discs have been made as well. They're on sale in Japan and run about $5000 just like HD-DVD players as well. However what Sony & Toshiba are trying to avoid is another format war like VHS and Betamax from way back when. As it looks, it seems that DVD a.ssociation will combine the 2 together; Using sonys blu-ray technology while using toshibas compression for more durable discs so they will not be encased in those thin plastic cartidges like PSP games are.
