No warrant, wont hold up in court, could possibly sue for duress. The idiot cops did them a favor.

last cop at the end had the squeakiest voice i've ever heard

but yeah if i am not mistaken, a fleeing suspect barricading himself in any property is technically voids the requirement for obtaining a warrant since the individual is still within a jurisdiction

in contrast, if the person ran to, say another country for example, then the pursuit would need to be halted and local authorities of the foreign government would have to take over

No, if you noticed immediate illegal activity you can enter. Marijuana smell is not immediate activity but watching someone run into the house is

Except in the circumstance boxden repeatedly refuses to acknowledge as the exception

I hate cops as much as the next poster here, but knowledge about exactly when they are overstepping their power is fundamental in combating corruption and enacting change.

but do they have any legs to stand if they found a drug house that had nothing to do with the original suspect?

You're putting a lot of faith in a legal system that is equally likely to award that cop with some paid time off and for any involved officers to be cleared of all charges.

Don't take that gamble. It's not the sure bet you think it is. Also, any judgment your family would be awarded would be paid out by American taxes without hurting the pockets of the police. Money that would have gone toward bettering infrastructure elsewhere or contributing to the community in a more positive way. So while it's nice that these families are often compensated for police brutality, those monetary judgments do nothing to combat the police incentive to cause another wrongful death.

The last few presidents have made it the status quo to tap into the funds that were promised American citizens in the form of social security. I see no reason why the collective police pensions paid out to officers at retirement shouldn't be exposed to the debt of justice in the form of these wrongful death judgments. It would be a great service to society if police officers actually had to be held accountable for the actions of the whole, as some other unions are. The culture of shoot first and ask questions later would change real fast if the cost of those bullets and those victims' judgments came out of their wallets.
