Mark Hamill Wants Carrie Fisher to Replace Trump on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Get ready for “Star Wars: The Sidewalk Strikes Back.”

Following news that the West Hollywood City Council voted on Monday to call for the removal of Donald Trump’s oft-vandalized star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, “Star Wars” actor Mark Hamill came forth to offer a replacement for the space: His deceased co-star, Carrie Fisher.

“How about replacing it with someone who really earned it? Like @carrieffisher,” Hamill tweeted in response to the news.

While Hamill was honored with his own Walk of Fame star in March, and Trump scored a spot on the walkway in 2007, a search of the Walk of Fame’s database reveals no such distinction for Fisher, who died in December 2016 at age 60.

The West Hollywood City Council unanimously passed its resolution calling for the removal of Trump’s star not because it’s become something of a vandalism magnet — most recently it was worked over with a pickaxe in late July — but rather “due to [Trump’s] disturbing treatment of women and other actions.”

“The West Hollywood City Council did not pa$s the resolution because Donald Trump is a conservative or a Republican,” West Hollywood Mayor Pro Tem John D’Amico told TheWrap. “Earning a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is an honor. When one belittles and attacks minorities, immigrants, people with disabilities or women — the honor no longer exists.”

Alas, any decision about Trump’s star won’t come from West Hollywood, a separate city from Los Angeles, the actual home to both the neighborhood of Hollywood and the walk of fame (where Trump’s star resides). The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has said in the past that it does not remove stars once they are given, and it told TheWrap Monday that there are no plans for removal of any stars “as of now.”

If only there were some sort of energy field that could be harnessed to compel them to think otherwise…
