2019 Ram 1500: This Is It

image

The 2018 Detroit Auto Show is chock-full of new full-size pickup trucks. Ford is rolling out the 3.0-liter diesel-powered F150; Chevy has introduced a completely redesigned Silverado. Now you can feast your eyes on the all-new 2019 Ram 1500, the fully-redesigned light-duty full-size from FiatChrysler.

image

Ram engineers found a way to trim 225 lbs out of the new pickup truck, with a new high-strength steel frame making this "the strongest Ram 1500 ever." Maximum payload is 2300 lbs, with a max tow rating of 12,750 lbs.

The 3.7-liter Pentastar V6 and 5.7-liter Hemi V8 remain the two available engine options, each connected to the familiar eight-speed automatic. A new 48-volt eTorque mild-hybrid system adds stop-start technology and boosts torque by 90 lb-ft in V6 models, 130 lb-ft in Hemi V8s. Ram said a diesel drivetrain will be offered in 2019, but did not provide details. Two-wheel drive models now feature an industry-first thermal rear axle, which circulates engine coolant through the rear differential cover to bring diff oil up to operating temperature more quickly in cold weather and keep the diff from overheating in hot-weather towing and hauling.

image

Inside, Uconnect is available with a giant, portrait-oriented 12-inch touchscreen. An optional Harmon Kardon pack 19 speakers, 900 watts, and a 10-inch subwoofer. Trucks with the available air suspension lower themselves 0.6 inches at speeds above 35 mph for increased aero efficiency; non-air-ride trucks receive an active front air dam that extends at speed, working with active grille shutters to improve aerodynamic efficiency.

not really feelin this I only fu*k with the srt10 ram, RAM trucks aren't bad but they just cant compare to chevy and ford.

when I picked up my king ranch I also took the Laramie for a test drive and theres no comparison in terms of luxury pickup trucks

I wanted a Cummins Turbodiesel ever since I worked on pipelines back in the day...
I had a 1500 for about two months in Midland and Odessa...

But I just copped the Tundra CMax for resale and reliability...

The fascia looks good tho...

F150s are the nicest trucks on the road. Dodge still playin catchup in interior, reliability, and safety.

Unless your Ram is modified. The 5.7L Hemi puts out 390 hp. Even the 6.4L Hemi puts out 475 hp.

Yeah, my dad had Rams for years and years. I tried to convince him to get a Silverado with me being a Chevy fan. He finally had it when his Las Ram's motor died a few months after the warranty was over. So he bought himself a Raptor and to its the best truck you can buy.

Don't shoot me y'all lol but I've always been a big fan of trucks and the way they look. Mom got a platinum f150 so ive always liked the Ford trucks.

I have the money for it so I would love to get a f250. only thing with me is I won't be hauling a trailer or anything so my question for the truck guys is should I reconsider trying to go big and stick with the basic trucks like the ram15000, f150 or GMC Sierra Denali if I won't be hauling anything? I will be using the bed of course but I've heard people say you will mess the truck up if you go big like a 250 and don't use it to haul anything. Any suggestions?

99.9% of pickups don't haul sh*t... a bunch of short dudes tryna look bigger in the parking lot

The only pickup trucks that do work are commercially owned or old as fu*k. You shiny pickup dudes are almost as bad as the slow muscle car guys
