Samsung Launching Android 8.0 Oreo Beta On Oct. 31st For S8/S8+ Owners On Sprint & TMO

We reported last month that Samsung has started working on the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. We also came across newer Oreo firmware versions for both devices recently which suggested that the Galaxy S8 Oreo beta program might be launching soon.

Itís now being said that the Galaxy S8 Oreo beta program is going to launch in the United States on Tuesday, October 31. Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ owners will be able to sign up for the program starting Tuesday.

Galaxy S8 Oreo Beta Program

Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ owners will reportedly be able to sign up for the beta via the Samsung Members and Samsung+ apps. Itís said that there will be 7,500 spots per device, per carrier, in the Galaxy S8 Oreo beta program.

Those who want to join the program will need to be on T-Mobile or Sprint.
Thatís because flashing the U1 firmware isnít going to let them join the beta if theyíre not on the aforementioned carriers.

Signups are said to open on October 31 and Samsung will roll out the beta on the very same day. The beta firmware is going to bring all of the new features and improvements included in Android 8.0 Oreo. Thereís also talk of a new UI/UX for the Galaxy S8.

Samsung is yet to confirm any details about the highly anticipated Galaxy S8 Oreo beta program. Itís unclear if the beta will be expanded to more countries. Itís also not known if thereís going to be a beta program for the Galaxy Note 8.

Samsung is expected to release Android 8.0 Oreo for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 early next year.

Probably updating to Samsung Experience 8.5. Bring it inline with the Note 8.

The Department Of Justice doesn't care about software beta programs.

Not to mention, Sprint and T-Mobile both participated in the Nougat beta last year. You're grasping at straws and coming off a little weird the way you Stan for a cellphone service company.

Also every one of my line has HD video up to 4K and 10Gb of 4G Hotspot. And my own line came with T-Mobile Name ID & Voice mail to text and i get GoGo flight too. So hell yeah i stan for T-Mobile when they continue to put more money into my pockets... how is your carrier treating ypu

You don't need to add more bloat to the phone by installing the Samsung Members app. It says you can use the Samsung+ app and that's on the s8 already. Attention to details guys lol It looks like this:

The article is old. The latest article makes no mention of Samsung+.

The report claims that Samsung is going to launch the Galaxy S8 Oreo beta program in the United Kingdom, North America and South Korea in the first phase. The second phase will see the beta being launched in China, Germany, Spain, France, Poland and India. Itís unclear how long the wait will be between the first and second phase.

Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 owners in these markets will be able to join the beta through the Samsung Members app. The app is available from Galaxy Apps and the Google Play Store. They have to register for the Galaxy Beta Program from the Samsung Members app.

Once they have completed the registration process, they can download the Galaxy S8 Oreo beta from the Software update menu in Settings.

So like I said, no need to install more bloatware lol just use the + app lol

That's the main thing I hate about Samsung tho, all these extra bloat apps and duplicate apps they make that no one uses except for once in a blue moon for something like this lol

You can uninstall Samsung+ along with most other bloatware. This hasn't been an issue for years.

lmao I know you a deep samsung fan and always have to defend them but you know damn well you can't uninstall a majority of their duplicate apps and bloatware because they are built in. Only way to uninstall them is to root your phone lol There are so many background services running for sh*t that I am sure 99% of the users don't need or are using the built in function. There are roughly around 189 samsung built in services that you have to deal with running unless you root to uninstall or use a package disabler. These are just a few of them.

Samsung Accessory Service
Samsung Connect
Samsung Health
Samsung Push
Samsung voice input
Samsung Bixby
Samsung Voice Service Framework
Samsung Voice Wake-up
AASAservice
Samsung a.ssistant Menu
Samsung Audio Connection Service
Samsung Authentication Service
Samsung Authentication Framework
Bixby Global Action
Bixby Home
Bixby Service
Samsung Calendar
Samsung Messages
Samsung Clock
Samsung Contacts
Samsung DQA agent
Samsung Email
Yahoo Finance
Yahoo Sports
Galaxy Apps
Samsung Game Launcher
Samsung Game Tools
Samsung Reminder
Samsung Cloud
Samsung Internet
Samsung Keyboard
Samsung Notes
Samsung Sound Picker

Now, with that said, I'm not saying they cause any lag or much of a battery drain. I just hate it because I hate the "mess" it causes when looking in my service directories when I'm developing the company app lol Now, what did cause lag and battery issue was their sh*tty touchwiz framework take over. I applaud them and extremely glad they retired the touchwiz framework lol

If you know that most, if not all, apps and services and be uninstalled/disabled, what the problem is?

This is why I said this hasn't been an issue for years. There's no bloatware app that can't be uninstalled or disabled.

LMFAO Again, you can't uninstall or disable all of them, only some. That is the problem lol Stop being unbiased lol There is over 100 services you can't disable or uninstall even if you have root that are degrading android because Samsung is trying to take over all the services just like they tried with touchwiz and that failed and luckily they realized it in time. I'm just waiting for them to realize that a lot of their other services are unneeded and remove them. I don't want them to go down the same route that HTC did when they was trying to take over all the services with their Sense framework. I'm a huge Samsung fan but I'm also realistic of what we do and don't want. Their forced services and apps don't handle things better than either android stock or system-detached 3rd party apps.

Which apps can't be disabled that aren't necessary for the phone to function?

They tried to takeover with TouchWiz and failed? What?

@ Samsung going the "HTC route" just because you don't use their apps.

NEWSFLASH: tens of millions of people use those apps with no issue. If they had an issue, they'd stop buying the phones.

They have plenty of apps that are better than stock:

Samsung Internet > Chrome
Samsung Pay > Android Pay
Secure Folder > ......
Gear VR > Daydream VR
Themes > ......
Samsung Camera app > Google Camera app
Samsung Gallery > Google Photos

Samsung isn't going to "realize that a lot of their other services are unneeded and remove them" because only pure Android nerds complain about that. I mean, they make more money from Android than Google does. What on Earth makes you think the executives are sitting somewhere saying "you know what, we need to turn this around and make our phones just like every other Android out there!"

More people use Samsung Pay than Android Pay and you're "advising" Samsung to only use Google's services? Yeah, okay.

The truth is, nobody really cares about stock Android. If they did, the Pixel wouldn't be selling like sh*t and Samsung wouldn't be dominating. Samsung will always include their own services. If it bothers you that much, buy another device.
