this isn't really news tho

50 was a trailblazer for a lot of sh*t

they're spot on with the whole "weird name" thing.. I remember people in my town couldn't grasp their mind around the fact that this rapper's name was "50 Cent" .. it was so out of the box for them..

when 50 dropped I was 14, I literally looked at him as an immortal force of nature.. a cross between a real life action hero / superthug who just so happened to make hit after hit after hit... nobody in my sh*tstain hometown fu*ked with hip hop, but when "if I can't" came on the whole party would go crazy, and Aftermath/Interscope doesn't get enough credit for taking that whole "shot 9 times" thing and milking it into oblivion.. my fu*king 80 year old grandma knew he got shot 9 times lol

it wasn't until the 6 months before Curtis that he finally started appearing mortal and human... I remember people trying to call "the massacre" wack back in the day, but if you listen to it now it aged beautifully and had a fu*kload of hits.. not to mention it would've been an actual classic had he kept "hate it orl ove it" and "how we do" .. dude was literally sh*tting hits at the time

all that being said, I still dont understand how someone can go from that to sounding like he literally forgot how to rap, I can't even sit through 2 recent 50 songs in a row... "im the man" was his last good song, and that's cuz of the beat and breezy lol

It's a stupid statement.

2Pac & Biggie are 2Pac & Biggie.

There's not any kind of generational equivalent.

In the same way, there's no 50 Cent of THIS generation.

50 Cent is 50 Cent.

But ya'll try to take things way too far.

That's where you fu*k up.

50 is the Pac/DMX of our generation. Youngins and suburban kids love him. 50 is easily top 20 at worst DOA.

This is true. I first heard 50 when I purchased the In Too Deep Soundtrack in 1999. I loved the song "How to Rob", but I thought he wouldn't have a long career because of his name. To me, it sounded like a lot of those gimmick rappers that were out at the time like Sporty Thieves, Short Knob, and Afro Man (Afro Man came a little later though). Boy was I wrong about my first impression of 50.

I agree. 50 is that dude.

Look at all he's done besides reinventing the formula with mixtapes. Beyond rap, he's just a very successful guy.

50 is intelligent as hell too. If he weren't a rapper, he'd still successful as a businessman because he just "gets" things.
