Twitter Considering Paid Subscription Tier For TweetDeck Platform

(TWTR) is considering a paid subscription tier for its popular TweetDeck platform, which would offer a range of premium features aimed at professional users, reports said Friday.

Twitter is conducting a survey to a*sess the interest in a more enhanced version of Tweetdeck, Reuters reported, quoting a press statement from company spokeswoman Brielle Villablanca.

"We're exploring several ways to make Tweetdeck even more valuable for professionals," Villablanca said.

Twitter stock was up 2.1%, near 15.25 during morning trading in the stock market today.

Twitter came public in November 2013, pricing shares at 26. The stock hit a record high of 74.73 in December 2013 and has been on a downward slide since then.

Snap is said to have replaced Twitter as the No. 2 social networking platform among advertisers, behind Facebook. Snap completed its initial public offering on March 2.

Last month, Twitter reported mixed fourth-quarter results and gave weak current-quarter guidance. Though it beat on the bottom line revenue rose just 1% to $717.2 million, far below analyst estimates of $740 million. It marked the 10th quarter in a row of revenue deceleration, year over year.

Snap stock was down 2%, trading near 22.65. Facebook was up 0.6%, near 22.70. Alphabet was up 0.1%, near 840.50.
