Kaitlin Olson’s ‘The Mick’ Renewed by Fox for Season 2

Sitcom has averaged solid 2.0 Nielsen rating in key 18-49 demographic

Sorry, suckers, it looks like Mickey’s gonna stick around for a while: Fox has renewed freshman Kaitlin Olson sitcom “The Mick” for a second season.

To-date, the series has averaged a solid 2.0 Nielsen rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, including a week’s worth of delayed viewing. By Fox’s own count across multiple platforms, ‘The Mick’ has reached an average of eight million total viewers per episode.

“From the earliest stages of development, all of us at Fox had enormous faith in ‘The Mick,’ and it hasn’t disappointed,” said David Madden, president, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “Kaitlin is a fearless comedic force, and the rest of the cast has just proven to be phenomenal. John and Dave Chernin have a very clear vision of what this show is, and they execute on that vision each week to perfection. We really couldn’t be happier with ‘The Mick,’ and we’re so thrilled to renew the series for a second season.”

“The Mick” airs Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m. on Fox. Tonight’s episode will see Mickey’s (Olson) unwanted suitors team up to thwart her new romance, according to the network. Meanwhile, Sabrina (Sofia Black-D’Elia) and Alba (Carla Jimenez) teach Ben (Jack Stanton) a lesson in responsibility.

The series follows the titular unapologetic degenerate who suddenly finds herself stuck raising her spoiled niece and nephews in affluent Greenwich, Conn. Mickey is determined to rise to the occasion and transform these little monsters into honest, hard-working, decent members of society — something she knows absolutely nothing about.

Produced by 20th Century Fox Television, “The Mick” was created and written by John Chernin and Dave Chernin of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.” The Chernin brothers, Nicholas Frenkel, Oly Obst and Randall Einhorn are executive producers. Olson is a co-executive producer on the series.
