The Uncharted Movie Finally Has A Script

Writer Joe Carnahan, who is writing the Uncharted movie for Sony, has finished the script. Writing on Instagram, he said, "Done and dusted. Now the REAL work begins."

Carnahan went on to say the Uncharted movie script is going to blow you away. He believes it's more "monstrously cool" than anything else out there in Hollywood. Additionally, Carnahan shared an image of the Uncharted movie's script title page. Check it out below:

"Done and Dusted. Now the REAL work begins," Carnahan said (via Polygon). "If there's a more monstrously cool action script in Hollywood right now, I wanna read it, 'cuz this thing is a BEAST."

Amy Hennig, who worked on the Uncharted video game series before moving on to EA, congratulated Carnahan on Twitter for completing the script.

Last year, Carnahan said the movie is the "anti-Indiana Jones," which stirred up some discussion. Also at the time, Carnahan said he showed his current draft of the script to Uncharted game director Neil Druckmann, but Druckmann denied having seen the script.

Night at the Museum director Shawn Levy was named the director for the Uncharted movie at the end of October 2016. The movie was previously going to be directed by The Fighter's David O. Russell, before he dropped out. Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses, Identity Thief) and Neil Burger (Limitless) were also attached to direct at different periods of time. Superbad writers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg were reportedly courted to write a script years ago.

According to the latest report, Sony wants to "fast-track" the Uncharted movie, though a release date has not been announced.

The movie was first announced way back in 2009, only for it to repeatedly fall apart. Actors mentioned as possibilities for leading roles included Mark Wahlberg, Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci, Amy Adams, and Scarlett Johansson. Chris Pratt is among those to pa$s on the role of Nathan Drake. We're still waiting for official casting announcements.
