Let's face it, the Wii systems were marketed for the causal family and children gamers in a pre-smartphone market. We all know this and it's evident in their trailers
This marketing campaign is what would eventually ki1l the wii brand off as the casual market moved away from wii gaming and into smartphone games in the early 2010s. While the Wii saw great success last generation, Wii-U obviously did not this gen.
fast forward to now, From Nintendo we have seen the success of the 3DS, the death of the Wii brand as well as Satoru Iwata. It seems as if Nintendo has both learned from their past mistakes as well as integrated their past successes into this new system, and none of that is more clear than the marketing campaign of the Switch.
We can see that the system is being marketed to the older audiences. The gamers. Those who love gaming but don't have as much time to since they are always on the go. the players who grew up with their consoles. the 20s, 30s, and even some 40 year old players. this is how you reel them back in to your brand
