Galaxy Note 7′s unfortunate demise reportedly caused by new battery flaw

Samsung confirmed yesterday that it will no longer produce or sell the Galaxy Note 7 merely two months after releasing what could have been its best performing Galaxy Note handset. Samsung announced the first recall last month when reports started coming in that units were catching fire for no apparent reason. It confirmed that there was a battery cell defect which was causing this problem and that it will replace each and every unit with a safe one. Earlier this week reports started coming in about replacement units catching fire as well and that inevitably led to the Galaxy Note 7′s unfortunate demise.

According to a report, investigators are of the view that the recent reports of the Galaxy Note 7 catching fire might be due to a second battery flaw different from the one which forced the initial recall. Preliminary examination of the evidence shows that thereís also an issue with batteries supplied by Chinaís Amperex Technology even though they were considered to be the safe alternative to Samsung SDIís faulty batteries.

The issue is believed to have spread into the supply line once Samsung started replacing the Galaxy Note 7 that had batteries sourced from Samsung SDI. A US consumer safety agency cited in the report claims the batteries from Samsungís own affiliate were slightly too large for the device. Since they were a bit too large for the compartment, installing them would crimp the corner which would cause the batteries to short circuit and overheat.

Samsung is yet to officially explain why replacement Galaxy Note 7 units which were meant to be safe in the first place started facing the same issue as recalled units.

All they had to do was slow down and design the phone properly then do some QC and those idiots couldn't do that

There's a bigger flaw that they aren't trying to say or just don't know yet

maybe the battery wasn't strong enough...they used cheap connector parts in the battery compartment...something

This...
It's definitely something more fundamental to the phone Parts that interact with the battery supply...

They must have Key design compromise that would cause them to change the form factor of the phone to fix.

I mean, if my memory serves correctly didnt they usually debut Notes in Oct? What was their rush? Beating Iphone 7 out the gate because they knew they couldnt outclass the tech? I never understood why they launched so early smh. I distinctively remember buying my Note 3 in early Oct. Still have it, glad I didn't "upgrade".

given my practice in batteries, I'm a*suming the rector connector isn't fully stabilized as per the battery's requirements

when u have a shortage or, even worse, an abundance of electrolanes trying to charge it at once, it'll leak out of the shilophane and react with the lithium

that's what's basically causing the explosions..wonder if this will make them announce the s8 sooner

They're probably going to announce the Note Series again dubbed as a different series. They aren't going to take the L that easy. Or they might just announced both the GS8 and Note 8 sooner than ever before.

I agree fam. This is what I said before. All these companies competing with each rushing out flawed products. Don't give a d..... about the consumers. The whole QA department needs to be fired. Best phone out and they messed it up. smh....

And I don't want to hear about cheap phones because Apple is having their issues also. (touch disease and exploding phones). Yeah I agree Samsung issues were becoming an epidemic. But the media tries to cover up Apple f up's.
