damn i was all excited this morning, thinking this was all gonna be what hip hop needed, but its the stupid a.ss clueless fans fu*kin everything up. there wasnt a single diss in kendricks verse, he was doin what youre supposed to do and making it about the competition. he was lettin everyone know its time to step ya bars up, its fu*kin rap, you supposed to be feelin like that. he did what no one else had the balls to do. he should be confident as fu*k, there is very few people out there that can actually flat out out rap him. what is drake gonna sing a response to him? kendrick and j cole are the closet thing we got to 90s era rappers right now, hopefully this lights a fire under everyone and we finally get back to having some quality music to listen to.

Dope. No matter what Kendrick won...he kicked this all off. Made n*ggas hungry again. He is their inspiration. Kendrick ain't really have a target these n*ggas got a target to aim at. Much easier.

KENDRICK STILL WON!!

"I do n*ggas harm with these bars,
It was brave, you took a chance like monopoly cards,
But that telly you're trying to check in, boy that property's ours,
Can't get a 'W' on Broadway - I'm New York all day."

He didn't say Kendrick's name or anyone else's though. #FAILWHALE
I can't tell whether or not you're serious. He releases a track called 'Outta Control' - a day after Kendrick is featured on a track titled 'Control' - that contains multiple references to Lamar's heavily discussed and contentious lyrics, and pours scorn on an unnamed rapper's proclamation about being 'the King of New York', and you're making it out as though Ortiz' response is a cop out because he didn't name-drop?
If a thief was to storm towards a pedestrian while waving a gun and pointing a finger at the purse the pedestrian was carrying, would they really need to spell out their demands?

The contrast between the two verses is quite telling. Kendrick name-dropped, Ortiz didn't; and yet Ortiz' verse comes across as the more ruthlessly aggressive. What does say about Lamar's verse, and all the hype surrounding it?
Kendrick was making an effort to appease his competition even as he was trying to place himself above them, with lines like 'I got love for you all but I’m tryna murder you n*ggas', whereas Ortiz was completely unapologetic during his verbal a.ssault - no name-drop necessary.

Ortiz' verse was an antagonistic onslaught - a true exhibition of Hip Hop. Lamar's verse was a new-age perversion of old-school Hip Hop combativeness; a blend of bravado and a.ss-kissing; but observe how rap's disoriented and battle-starved fans rush to celebrate Lamar's tentative verse as the bolder and more violent of the two, just because he was brave enough to name-drop his more illustrious industry buddies. What does that say about the state of Hip Hop today?

Either Ortiz won, or Hip Hop lost.

Big fan of Kendrick but how folks gon say joells verse was wack. He basically addressed everything Kendrick was talkin bout, and he was right how gangsta rappers and skinny jean rappers wouldnt be able ti respond properly. Good sh*t, who got next?

Ppl saying NY don't support is lying.

At the end of the day sh*t is about making music making songs. You could be a n*gga that can rap ya a.ss off all day long but if you can't make good songs then you ain't gon pop. n*ggas be blurring lines with sh*t & don't be understanding why they not gettin support.

It's a reason Drake & Kendrick is where they at. Timing plays a part but these n*ggas make great SONGS/ALBUMS. This sh*t is also about a window of opportunity alot of NY rappers be mad cuz they missed they window. They think cuz they from NY n*ggas is gon automatically support. Asap & French do what they do cuz they sound like south n*ggas or cuz of their features.

IMHO b4 French went south he made dope a.ss songs, & had a few that I thought could've been legitimate hit records with the right push. It's sad to see artists who deadass think they should be in a higher spot when they don't make good music but to hear them tell they would swear on everything they do.

It's no new NY n*gga who can rap & make good songs you always get one or the other. & these n*ggas don't see that its sad.. n*ggas can't even get consistent release dates & u talking bout ppl don't support.

A classic album tends to make that happen. Perhaps Slaughterhouse should try it sometime.
