And if you're wondering what the connection between the read option and PA passes is, it's not a coincidence that 4 of the top 6 PA passing teams are the Panthers, 49ers, Seahawks and Redskins.
The linebackers and safeties get frozen at the mesh point. When playing defense, it's best to play all out without doing too much thinking instead of having to be reactionary.

The read-option is a great wrinkle in our scheme, but the Shanahan offense has always been about play action and bootlegs. Can't speak much on the other squads.

But what people get caught up in, naturally, is Robert Griffin IIIís athletic ability and the read-option, which didnít constitute as much of offense as people think. Ninety percent of our offense are the same plays we ran with Rex Grossman, John Beck and Donovan McNabb, only more efficiently. A highly effective run game and play-action passing have always been the basis of Mike Shanahanís offense; RGIIIís athletic skillset only heightens and strengthens an offensive mindset that Shanahan has held since he was coaching Steve Young in San Francisco.

mike system before this pistol was predicated off the play action.. lol.. he was never going to be in a drop back system anyway.
Yeah but the read option made it even more effective and he didn't run PA half the time before last season. Plus it slows down pass rushers and stops teams from blitzing. Kyle Shannahan said something about how teams basically stopped blitzing it.

I don't think the Read Option is "gimmicky," the only problem for the Redskins is that RG3 might not be able to stay healthy running it, and it definitely lowers his ceiling if he can't run the option.

These defensive coordinators are saying how they're gonna stop it, yet they're running to college coaches asking for advice . Yeah, because they know how to stop it in college football

Manziel put up 2 TDs passing on 253 yds with a 77% completion percentage and ran for 92 yards against Alabama...even Saban couldn't stop it with his quasi-NFL roster.

So none of those things are true? Alfred wasn't a top 5 back last year? Your defense isn't stout? Your WRs suck? Your oline is terrible? My n*gga how do I know your team better than you do?
Besides Davis and garÁon, everybody has questionable hands, heck even garÁon sometimes.

Only stud on the line is Trent , everybody else is average at best and griffin makes them look way better with his ability to dance in the pocket. This is the same oline that gave up 41 sacks in 2011 so wth are you talking abt

Lorenzo Alexander was our starting ilB next to fletcher , be real son.

Alfred just came out of nowhere and he running in a ZBs. Yeah he's a beast but he could be a one hit wonder or solid. It's only been a year, Like the kid alot though cuz avoids the full hit whenever he gets contacted.

Btw if you ever watch the skins run regularly , part of the reason why Alfred hits big runs is because the defense hesitates when they should be pursuing because they're not sure if griffin is abt to pull it back out of his chest. The possibility of griffin running for even a few yards makes defenses slow down and keeps holes open for Morris longer.
Just His reputation to take off for 76 yards has teams shook catchup wilson

My bad i thought Alabama won the last two championships and they dont run it. Wait does LSU run that read option. The dominate teams in college dont run it but its suppose to work in the NFL.

Also SKins fans are the fu*king worse they finally win a division in its worst and i mean the division was pitiful and now they are here to stay. Did anyone really look at their schedule you had a 4th place schedule NOw you have a 1st place schedule and sh*t aint gonna be that sweet. Remember Skins fans we spotted you 14 points on your own sandbox and still left with you heart and soul

STOUT dog.. STOUT .. more like below average.. where the fu*k did you see stout at this year... they were in the bottom 5 in the league in giving up points.. the fu*k are you even talking about.
You guys were 4th in the league in takeaways. Of course you would love the defense to not give up as many yards or points but in the end that defense did enough to give you chances to win and that was a banged up defense.

Also, points per game given up is flawed. It doesn't account for points scored by opposing defenses or special teams. It also doesn't account for how many times your defense took the field on a short field and only gave up a field goal. There are a lot of factors to consider when gauging whether a defense was any good and the Redskins make the cut on a lot of those.

In terms of the last game they played , wth type of gauge is that :ohhellnonas: griffin was gimping since wk 14 and still styled on Dallas for playoff contention in an elimination type game , 4 wks with a restrictive brace. 100% healthy griffin would have advanced. n*gga was playing on partially torn ligaments and still put them up by 14 before he fully tore it.
December rg3 is not a good example of roberts impact, he was a different passer after the ravens game. Couldn't push off for the deep ball, straight loftin it

Luck threw a pick and no tds against the ravens, so he's worse than wilson

Ok, sorry, but you know what the fu*k I mean. Last healthy game for him, then. I'm obviously not gonna hold an injury against him.
