Honda Announces Street Legal MotoGP Bike

visit this link The Best Surprise Announcement From Honda/

It was during a 2012 press briefing from Honda boss Takanobu Ito about the future plans for the company's direction that the world learned Honda was developing a new V4 sportbike that was to spearhead their goal "to create a new history." Ito began by mentioning the RC30 and their passionate engineers before dropping the bombshell of a new supersport, "to which technologies from MotoGP will be applied." Can you imagine a Honda RC213V for the street? This would be earth-shattering news for Big Red fanatics.

With a speculated due date in late 2014, the V4 won't be a Fireblade replacement. If created for the street, it will be priced more towards NR750 and Desmosedici RR numbers making it exclusively for the well-financed. Think at least $75,000. Honda has a history of flexing its engineering muscles as seen by its MotoGP championships. While we wait for what will surely be an extremely expensive ultra-limited production racer for the road (maybe), SSB couldn't help but fantasize what such a bike could look like, so here's our vision.

Engine

The 1000cc RC213V MotoGP machine uses pneumatic valves to rev to 17,000 RPM, and a sophisticated (and top secret) "seamless shift" gearbox to transmit its 225 HP+ to the racetrack. It's unlikely the valve or gearbox system will find its way to our roadbike due to suitability. Power output and rev ceiling will also be lowered to increase longevity and maintenance intervals. We're still talking a class-beating 200 HP though, which is more than enough to pop a couple of third gear wheelies off the clutch. As for the angle of the V, again, Honda is coy about the current angle of its racebike but it's somewhere between 74° - 76° and we reckon our streetbike will be similar.

Chassis

The racebike's frame is made from a very thin and light alloy that stays rigid under braking and flexible at full lean on a smooth racetrack. The road-going bike will need to be tougher still to cope with everyday use by street riders, as well as carrying all the components a roadbike needs like lights and a starter motor. It will likely look very similar, but expect it to be heavier. Ohlins suspension all around with gas-pressurized forks like the Desmosedici at the front and a shock with a dial that goes all the way to 11. The latest Fireblade wheels are lightweight, beautiful and help the bike steer and stop easier as well as reducing rider fatigue so we've used them in our mock-up. While carbon brake discs are all well and good on the circuit in race conditions, they're hopeless for the road where they never reach working temperature. We suspect the latest Brembos biting on steel discs will do the job just fine.

Bodywork

It's based on the MotoGP bike, so we're guessing it'll look like it too. With styling cues from some of Honda's 2013 range (notably CBR250 and Fireblade) we reckon we're pretty close. As for paint schemes, think classic HRC success stories: SP-1, NS500, and of course, the RC30. It's hard to beat the classic look of yesteryear's glory.

wow. 225 hp.

My SV650S has 70ish and that feels fast enough. I've ridden i4 liter bikes that made me cringe.

Can't imagine this animal... gonna be a lot of dead mufu*kas ... just wait.

considering that MotoGP bikes normally cost around 1-3 million dollars ... aint that bad... I realize not all technology is carried over, but still...

No production liter bike will hold a candle to this... if it goes into production. We're talking MotoGP technology here... the pinnacle of motorcycle racing.

I love it. Probably the last sport/hyperbike I will ever own. I want a cruiser next in addition to my 14R.

I will make a thread with pics of it and the other bikes I have owned soon.
