The key word in my post you quoted is "ideal," meaning perfect, meaning most likely would never happen under any circumstance, but it's okay to dream as if it were a possibility. Most people who aspire to live a middle class lifestyle as an adult dream of fulfilling the lifestyle I mentioned in that particular post.

Of course, there is a negative side to every lifestyle; that's not the point. The point is to contrast what the typical person strives to, the reason why school is pushed so heavily, the reason why a life of crime, drugs, and alcohol abused is discouraged. It's because those things almost automatically eliminate any chance of achieving the things I mentioned.

The problem I see with kids in the inner city -- and I've seen a lot, both as a recruiter and now as an school teacher in an urban school district -- is that a lot of them don't believe they can rise above their environment. If they do make it out, it's only through one of three ways. And you may think that young black males wanting to be a baller or a rapper is just a stereotype, but I would invite to come to my class tomorrow and ask all of my male students what it is they want to be. 90 percent of them will say a professional athlete. I know because I had them write down what it is they want to be on a piece of paper during the first day of summer school and give it to me. Unfortunately, I've seen them all play basketball, and none of them show any promise of being a star athlete. That's not to say that they can't develop the skills later. There are plenty of players in the NBA who didn't realize their potential until much later. But from what I see, none of these kids have the talent to make varsity, let alone an NBA roster. Sadly, none of them have any alternative career choices just yet. I'm not trying to crush their dreams, so I haven't talked to them about other career choices. Hopefully, it's something they'll reconsider as they enter high school.
How old are the kids though dude. Kids dream, we all did when we were younger. But as you grow up you realize that you suck at basketball and can't rap for sh*t......then come's new more realistic dreams......at least they do have that potential to dream.......that means they do want more....but at the time that may be all they know to get there........that's where you come in..........perhaps you should help them to evolve that feeling of wanting more....I mean that is what teachers do right? And.....if they are talented then fu*k it let them do them......that's why its a dream in the first place

1)O'Reilly did not speak a single original thought in that clip.

2)O'Reilly is one of the best race hustlers in the media today. His shows popularity stems from that FACT!

3)The talking points, although completely unoriginal, are essentially true! We as a community know what needs to be done, but lack the collective focus, patience & desire to do it.

Finally, I find it comically absurd that Black scholars have been making these EXACT SAME observations for more than a century and getting widely ignored by the main stream but an 8 minute clip from O'Reilly gets prime time coverage.

Guess some things never change!

some folks don't want to have a real discussion cuz then they'd have to be accountable in the same fashion they want black folks to be..so they manipulate the situation everytime race is brought up...it's kind of like how you have 2 siblings and one is bout to tell on the other and the one that's bout to get told on starts making noise and causing distractions and tries to change the subject...we've all seen children do that..apparently grown ppl do it as well just far more discreet
^^^^PROPS! THIS IS 100% CORRECT. The irony is, the reverse racism card is more common place than the traditional race card now. If an intelligent, real & EMOTION FREE discussion on race is ever going to happen accountability is a must, which eliminates the internet as an option especially BX!

Nothing about this sh*t was powerful... all he did was try and shift the blame so people can stop talking about the real problem and save his kind (Media repubs) a.sses bc the contribute to ALOT of this sh*t.

The key to solving this so called problem that (by the way he helps fuel things) isn't the people who don't have the resources to to those things anyways, IT'S THE fu*kING LAWS THAT CAUSE THESE THINGS! What good is valuing a education that has no value? When the prez or sharpton talks about fixing these schools and creating work, and after school programs he jumps on him and calls him a socialist.

50 schools in the chi are about to close in the same areas where this violence is happening bc of underfunding in those areas. You don't see the pattern? The mayor can build a 50 mill stadium but can't help fund the education system in those areas? No job opportunities either, but we can't invest in those things thats down right socialism... Right bill?

I love how all of a sudden people care about the blk community when ever people call out the proven unfairness that goes on. these areas have been forgotten about for so long you can't pull yourself up without the proper resources which BLACK PEOPLE HAVE NONE OF THE OPPORTUNITIES BILL HAD WHITE PRIVILEGE AT IT FINEST. He only did this to try and make black people feel bad for having trouble trying to fix a problem THEY HAD HELP IN CREATING AND DODGING THE REAL LEGIT PROBLEMS
THAT KEEP THEM THERE.

Economic opportunities, good education, living wage jobs, after school programs, work programs. All the things that aren't available to black communities, but bill's kids have them, and when someone he hates speaks on it he says oh on on you can't do that.

All he did was bring up every stereotype whites view us in and amp them up. The same reason things like these happen. Nothing epic here and no truth, this is nothing but the white repub ego to push back and shift the blame, and y'all n*gga's falling for this sh*t smh

Now how are black people going to do it by themselves when they don't have the resources?
Not a problem in America bill? Patriot? A large % of blacks that join the armed forces come from those areas. So they can make the ultimate sacrifice in your name, and all you can do is point fingers at people for doing the best they can with little to no resources?

I don't understand what the prez said that got these whites all worked up pride must be a bi*ch. you can't point fingers at people for "not doing something you urself don't do 20 white kids get k!lled in a school Bill does nothing? Matter of fact he blamed it on Chicago lol so gun crime in the chi is why you feel like nothing should be done about guns? " look at what going on in the chi more reason to have a gun" yeah he the truth tho? he cares? this has nothing to do with trying to make black men look unfavorable, lazy, and incompetent to the rest of america? like the biggest thugs and crooks don't work at wallstreet and wear suits and ties? make laws? you know the ones that hold all the cards that make these thing happen?

Im done man i could go on if I don't stop not i could be here forever...... Love

You don't need resources to be more family oriented and to be a good parent. You don't need resources to condemn the rappers your children look up to that brainwash your children into glorifying bad behavior.

I absolutely fu*king hate Bill Orielly and I'm sure he doesn't even believe the words he just spoke. Im sure what he just said was written by a far more intelligent person BUT what he said was the truth and for you to come up with more sympathy sh*t like "we dont have the resources" your missing the point.

So regurgitating points that have been made by numerous figures (especially enlightened black figures) equates to a segment being "epic"? An OBVIOUS race hustler attacking other race hustlers but can somehow still manage to manipulate people. Ridiculous.

And your glorifying ignorance with your bullsh*t statements.

The numbers in question from the Justice Policy Institute report come from the Bureau of Justice Statistics and the National Center for Education Statistics. The report indicates that there were an estimated 791,600 black men in jail and prison in 2000 and a count of 603,032 in college in 1999. Mr. Morton agrees with the jail and prison number but a.sserts in his blog that the more reliable U.S. Census Bureau reports that there were 816,000 black men in college in 2000. In the film, he makes comparisons using the same data sources for 2005 and states this number to be 864,000. Furthermore, he argues that it is bad practice to use the entire age range of black males when making these comparisons, because the age range for college-going males is generally 18 to 24, not the 18 to 55 (and up) range of the jail and prison population. Viewed this way, the ratio of black men in college compared with jail and prison is 4-to-1.

This means more black youths are aiming for a higher education( not to be on the block selling drugs) your problem is you have convinced yourself that Black Americans are all some product of a rap video. Or that all black Americans aspire to be flashy idiots based on the a handful or so that you have come into contact with in your life. You can acknowledge the Young Jeezy's and the 2 Chains, but you don't recognize the Cornell West and the Obamas in our society. What you say may have some truth to it, but are you really that fu*king retarded that you believe that every black American male and women aspire to be hood rats?

Its clear you can speak on your belief system in regards to how black Americans are portrayed, but you speak nothing on the realities of the black race. The fact that there are more blacks out here DOING THE RIGHT THING IN LIFE then relying on welfare to feed their families. There are more black Americans out here who have chosen to have careers in the work field over a career in prison. You have black men out here who used a talent of poetry to propel themselves into the business world who are now not only respected musicians but respected business minds. Who if not for rap music would never had got the chance to use that intelligence in this world. The same with athletes. You don't speak on the potential of any black Americans.......But this is also funny......the Black Americans who have come from these poorer neighborhoods who had nothing, who had to resort to selling drugs to make money to feed themselves and or their siblings who are now multi millionaires because their elders had sense enough to create a powerful new artform that was undeniable. These people are living to higher standards not because they were anti hard work(cause it took plenty of hard work to get them there) but because they were allowed the opportunity to use the brain they were blessed with to not just make music but to make money.

You think your the only one out here that made something with their life? Out of the high school you went to do you honestly think your the only who aspired to want more? Your a foolish man with foolish pride, and your hatred will do nothing but leave you with nothing in the long run. How the fu*k can you hate something that is you? How can you even attempt to open your lips and speak on another black mans inhibition to be nothing when your a black man yourself. Didn't you say you made it to be something, aren't you black.........so how the fu*k can every black man be this porch monkey n*gga your talking about.....Your not right? That's how fu*king stupid you are dude. So what the black race is not perfect.......We have a high crime rate, but we also have the highest amount of successful black Americans living in this country now then in America's entire history. We also have a promising future of young black Americans who are going to school and edging up on America's corporate world in hopes to infiltrate and become their own captains of business, but we can't do it alone. At some point in time America has to give these kids a chance......but they wont, and that is primarily because of people like you who preach this hopeless attitude about our children and ourselves.

Your a fu*king sell out dude. You do nothing to promote the betterment of your own people and would rather walk around with your nose up whiteys a.ss then admit to the fact that blacks are trying to better our race, but its to the fault of white America that our efforts continue to get stalled out because of higher forces who would rather see our people in jail and on welfare then infiltrating their system of white superiority. You can deny this all you want........but when you can let Bill Oriely call Al Sharpton a race hustler.........when Oriely works for one of the most race baiting news channels in the history of the world and not feel at all hypocritical about it then you've clearly lost your way in life, and need to help everyone in the world who knows of you out.....by k!lling your fu*king self.........you self loathing piece of sh*t.........

Everybody in this thread hates Bill O'Reilley. But 95% of us can agree that he spit a lot of truth in that rant (maybe for the first time in his career)

n*ggas love MSNBC because its a bunch of bleeding-heart liberals constantly making excuses for black people.

MSNBC treats black folks like parents who think their kids can do no wrong.

Watch that sh*t long enough you'll start believing that there are NO problems in the Black Community whatsoever.

I respect O'Reilley for giving that RAW (even if it may be unpopular), instead of trying to sugar coat it and baby grown people.

Has nothing to do with msnbc bro (you can find just about the same stats in my first post that has nothing to do with bill)

bill didn't to nothing but troll the convo from having a REAL convo bc it's one historically he can't win.

How can you take what the president said and jump out the window with that rant? LET'S BLAME BLACK PEOPLE? There is a deeply rooted problem here and nothing will get done by finger pointing by a guy who knows nothing about us but what he see's. There is a cause to every effect you can point out whatever you want there are some reasons things happen the the black community at blacks have a fault in, but not as much as them.

Till they start hold themselves accountable for the sh*t they cause like applauding congress for not passing the American jobs act, or the education reform bill, or infrastructure bc it's from obama. Why the fu*k should we? those thing are needed he most in these communities and they know that. All ur agreeing to is that you ain't sh*t and it's you blacks fault even tho were the most to blame (which there is proof to)

you know alot of these communities are the size of a box yet there is like tens of thousands of them? and no it has nothing to do with wedlock babies, blacks only make up a small% whits do the same amount of bull sh*t they just have more room to move around and get away with sh*t. none of that is black peoples fault. no wonder the south side and the west side of the chi are going thru so much right now. they don't have any room to move around.

And i say that to say this... you can point the finger at urselves and say we have a problem in the blk community, but How does that translate to the white terms in which they blame black people for they're problems? the same things he claims we do to each other, he also claims we do it to them w/o use being there if the data is correct.

if we only make up 14% and a majority of the crimes we do is to our own, then why do we also we blamed for sh*t they do? i mean why would zim feel the need to follow a black kid in the burbs when in fact he's more likely to k!ll his own?

And you by his bs come fu*king on dawg... He painting a picture for hie old white followers telling them that they are violent stupid thugs ands.luts that don't give a sh*t about anything and they need to be put in jail PUT THE BAD GUYS AWAY and they are also why other countries looks at us the way they do. IT'S ALL THE BLACKS FAULT "PIMPS HUSTLERS" whens the last time bill called a white dude a pimp or hustler? Karl rove is the biggest pimps in the game and bill won't call him out. dude is racist point blank

This was nothing more than a way to make blacks feel bad about themselves for sh*t they can't control...

IDk why I'm sitting here trying to reason with you. i get it ur that "I gotta be on the different side of the argument type of n*ggas. It's cool tho it's all love you should go back and watch the two videos in my first post.

Love

The prob is about 90% past and 10% current mindset... mind you, the past affects the current mind state.

If "they" wanted black people out of the underclass "they" would set up govt programs... Why can an immigrant get a loan for a business tax free but i cant? The system IS set up to keep EVERYONE down, and black people are at the bottom of that.
its simple, its easy to understand.

Most convincing piece of evidence of racism in this country is the fact that we still make racial distinctions: i belong to this/that class/group/community because i'm black/white.

Ideologically-induced racism.

When people stop making references to the past and what some 'group' did, didnt, does or doesnt do; focus on the present and forget about skin pigmentation differences perpetuating these American subcultures, THEN will society reach a turning point and actually set foot on that last rung of the ladder.

Imagine filling out a form where the demographic/biographical info we were prompted to provide only allowed us to specify whether we're Human or Other, with no regard to race or ethnicity (because it would have no significant bearing on who we really are as people)

n*ggas in here talking about bad schools and no reparations and sh*t

Be honest. It's not about ANY of that sh*t. It's about the ways of thinking and lack of values that are perpetuated within the black community. n*ggas are their own worst enemies.

I wish they would give n*ggas reparations. Maybe 10k each. Just as a social experiment. To see what it would be spent on. What steps they would take with the money to better situations.

Im sure it would all be spent on diversifying their stock portfolios, and not on rims and unnecessary designer bullsh*t.

I wish they would put the best schools in the hood. Because the best schools would change the bigger underlying issue. That black folks don't value education like they should.

What good is the best school being in the hood, if most people there have the mentality that they don't need it. Or that education will make them a "lame" or "not a real n*gga"

Anybody who went to a black high school (like myself) knows that the people who valued education least were the Black American kids. They always the first one calling somebody a "nerd" or "geek" or "lame" for doing well in school. Because "real n*ggas don't read no books"

Too much glorifying of Black athletes, entertainers, and rappers in the black community. Not enough glorifying or black doctors, lawyers, scientists.

Thats why every young n*ggas wanna be a "Rapper" or "Ball player" once Pre-Algebra gets a little challenging.
all this applies to uneducated americans in general. of all races.

and its why kids (of all races) look up to lil wayne tyler the creator insert extreme sports athlete here and not neil degrasse tyson. education is not rewarded in america and holding onto things that make others seem like lower level citizens is how ppl rationalize they own sh*tty lives, and feel better about themselves.
