fu*k no
I know I phrased that like a question but let me be clear, Halftime is better than Cashmere Thoughts. Cashmere Thoughts is the most forgettable track on RD, Halftime was a hit 2 years before Illmatic even dropped.

Nas recorded it in 1992 and it's still lyrically better than Cashmere, which Jay recorded in 1995-96. The production isn't even comparable with Halftime being one of the most recognizable beats in hip-hop history, and Cashmere Thoughts being a Clark Kent throwaway.

So fu*k yes, it's better.

Reasonable Doubt. Superior lyricism & rapping, and the soul-inspired production will never sound dated like the production on Illmatic.

Premier produced his greatest beats of all time on Reasonable Doubt.

Illmatic has no five-track sequence that can compete with that of Reasonable Doubt which extends from "Dead Presidents II" to "Can I Live".

The most recited and popular verse on Illmatic was AZ's verse, and it's nowhere near that of B.I.G.'s verse on "Brooklyn's Finest".

No song on Illmatic matching the honesty of "Regrets" and "Can I Live", nor the maturity of "D'Evils" and "Can't Knock The Hustle".

Comparing the lyricism, whether that be rhyme schemes, metaphors, entendres or imagery--Reasonable Doubt simply exceeds Illmatic.
I agree. We also need to keep in mind jay had like 10 years on nas. Even then it's still a better album to me :kanyeshrug:

I got something for IWW... it's not in the tourney, but I didn't think more than one person was going to be lobbying for it to be in the tourney either. I'll throw it in there somewhere. Just not directly into the tourney. I'll probably just make a poll for it to face the champ after the tourney.

The poll results are interesting.

Jay fans must still be asleep.

Don't worry. Once it gets that HT they'll show up like they did in the 8/9 matchup.
