you just wasted thread space. you could have PM'd someone or google'd it. dmx's debut buzz doesn't even compare to 50 cent debut buzz

I remember how big 50's buzz was in 02-03

But I also remember how big DMX was in 97-98...X dropped 2 #1 albums and starred in Belly. His hype/buzz might not have been as big, but you can say X's impact that year was bigger.

lol internet or not, in the club took the fu*ken world by storm. I was in high school when X came out. There was no where near as much buzz as when 50 came. Foo's sayen the internet would have helped X, no it wouldn't have.

I downloaded Grodt, you had to buy X's sh*t which should have given him more album sales then 50 but it didn't. There's no excuse u can make for DMX

98 was DMX and Lauryn Hill's year
Fixed.

You can say Laurn Hill, but that's it as far as hip hop is concerned. Like i've already said X dropped 2 #1 albums that year and starred in Belly. No one else has an argument.

Yeah but you have to take eras into account too though. DMX dropped when hip hop was still in the streets.

50 dropped and got an interview with Sway on MTV, and when hip hop was already turned out and commercialized.
in 1998 and 1999 rap was as commercial as 2002 and 03. Its not like 93 when Snoop dropped. Snoop the only rapper to probably top 50's debut buzz.

Hip hop was commercial in 97-98, but not nearly as bad as it was in 2003.

Look at some of the biggest hits from 2003:

Lil Jon - Get Low
Chingy - Right Thurr
Pharrell - Frontin

Indeed. I'm 28 too and a huge X fan... It doesn't really matter what era they were in, the facts still stand that 50's buzz was huge and bigger than X's. And this whole suburbs vs. streets sh*t is played... So people really believe DMX wasn't huge with white people the same as 50? X had fu*king Marilyn Manson on his second album...

I was more into X's buzz. At the time, DMX and Juvenile had crazy buzz. The whole Ruff Ryders/Cash Money movement was the hardest sh*t out to us.

When 50 came, I didn't think he'd be as big of a star as he became. Everything about dude just seemed basic and image-driven. I think I was still into Em at the time but it didn't really cross over. 50 def captured more of a crossover appeal than X did somehow. He was able to take over for a while whereas X just temporarily became "that dude" to the hood.

Way different factors to generate an accurate buzz tbh..... After Pac And Biggie Got k!lled, the radio was geared towards promoting corny/ safe rappers.... DMX and Canibus both had an underground buzz at the time, cause people got tired of the mase/ puffy bs.... dmx actually got radio play at that time and was a breath of fresh air to hip hop heads...... A few of the older cats I'm sure remember the canibus vs dmx tapes lol.... DMX had prior material that nobody cared about tbh, do your homework.. It wasn't like he came out of left field and just naturally blew up

cats were bootlegging the sh*t of g-unit cd's before 50 signed with EM.... 50 developed more of a natural buzz for his material tbh..... to this day still think power of the dollar and some random mix tracks are 50's best material.... as far as buzz goes though, have to lean toward 50 a bit, being the internet wasn't popping before dmx's drop.... dmx's debut cd wasn't a letdown, but is was force fed to people on the radio, like I brought up before...

wtf, u talking about, taking into account?

ur question is who had the bigger buzz not who had the bigger buzz if the circumstances were the same.

ur an idiot, u dont even know what ur asking.

50 has the bigger buzz and its not even close, 50 had the world in his hands, no one outside of new york knew X.

thats facts

Ok, so 50 had more hype around his album than X...

But X's album had a bigger IMPACT on hip hop and culture than GRODT.
@ this fu*k boy

i just had to post

wtf, is this thread about? So u made a thread with a belief that X is better than 50 and wanted people to confirm it?

You really thing GRODT didnt have as much impact as X's albums? are u serious? not taking anything away from X, but 50 birthed a generation of rappers. he took over the game with that album.

When X came out, there was a bunch of n*ggas doing it as well if not better than he was doing it.
