Lex prob still gets placements, but the industry isn't about super producers anymore. Back in the 90's-early 00's you had Dre, Neptunes, Timbo, Premier, JD, Just, Kanye, etc. as go to producers.
Now because of social networking, social media and equipment/software to make beats being more accessible than ever, there's an over-abundance of up/coming producers. For every Lex Luger, there's 1,000 other n*ggas who can make a beat just like him.
Lex's sound got used up and there were too many clones of it: Southside, TM-88, Sonny Digital, Metro Boomin, Tarentino, etc.
So Lex decided to go in a different direction with his sound and then new n*ggas like Young Chop moved in and took it over once they got a hit record. That's why every year, there's a trendy producer:
2013 - Mike Will Made It
2012 - Young Chop
2011 - Lex Luger
2010 - Boi-1da
2009 - Polow Da Don
2008 - Bangladesh
2014, I'd watch out for Zaytoven after this Versace record, even tho Zaytoven is hardly new. D.Rich might finally get his due too.
Zaytoven is hardly new? Zay been out and zay been made his run back when gucci was dropping classic sh*t but He still goin. All the trap rappers still like that zay sound. But hw u gone leave Drummaboy off the list like he wsnt k!llin sh*t bruh?
