is that a lot? knicks got out of novaks deal which would require giving up a 1st round pick anyway
You aren't a fu*king GM dumbass, 99% of ppl that comment on players value know nothing. Novak would of be easily traded as an expring contract when you needed him too... You make it seem like 3.75m is hard to move You probably could of traded him to a contender in need of 3pt shooting for a 2nd round pick as an expiring...

n*ggaz in here tripping over pick...

n*ggaz trade picks every year B..

This trade doesn't make the Knicks any worse..

Bargs spreads the floor, can create his own shot and adds another scorer to take the hassle off of Melo

No he won't give you 10rpg or create a dominate low post presence but he wasn't brought here for that and it's not like Camby & Novak were doing so..

Reading through the beginning of this thread and watching Knicks fans trying to convince themselves this was a good move is quite frankly one of the funniest expereinces of my entire adult life...

Thank You God, Allah, Buddah or just the random greatness of the universe.

You guys aren't looking at the big picture. Free agency is good if you already have pieces to build upon... What are you going to get? Love and Gasol at best in that FA period? Ok and what? Ur gonna build around them?

Picks are very valuable, you guys gotta stop rationalizing sh*t in your favor, look at the future not the current.

Its not a bad trade in terms of "value", I just don't understand the logic. Knicks throw away first round picks like it's nothing only stifling your future for minimal gain. Never understood why they do that. The Bulls are STILL eating off the first round picks from the Eddy Trade(eventually turning into Noah AND Bobcats Unprotected 2016..

With that said, I'm not understanding how we've been hearing for the past 2 seasons that Melo and Amar'e wont work because Amar'e is a perimeter oriented big that operates in Melo's space.. So what the hell do they think Bargs is? Thats why I don't get this move, you bring in yet another scoring big man, who is perimeter oriented that will work in Melo's space more so than Amar'e because Bargs will now extend as far out as Melo does sometimes(too the three point line).. It's a head scratching move and seems like a deal that was done for the sake of countering Brooklyn's move.. Scoring is Scoring I suppose but, the Knicks stay grabbing whatever piece and trying to force a puzzle to fit. It's like they have all the pieces for the wrong puzzle..

Shump & Melo aren't good pieces to build upon?

Wall, Cousins & George are all Restricted FA's 2014. Whose to say they don't sign the qualifying offer for 2014 and become FA's in 2015.

It's highly unlikely but it's always an "option" and this is why it's good to get under the salary cap. Not to play the Yearly game to see who is a FA in what year, but to have options..

With both Bargs & Amare off the books in the same year, it gives us financial flexibility.

throwing away picks cost you players like Shumpert on rookie contracts who would likely get the MLE right now on the open market. Throwing away those picks forces you to go into FA to build up your roster, when some of those roster slots could be taken by serviceable 2nd and 3rd year players making an impact through in house development. I feel it's why the Knicks continue to be mediocre and stuck in Salary cap hell. The core is there, Melo and Shump, throwing away picks is not building around the core.

Hopefully the Knicks don't try and act like the Nets looking to be the Yankees of the NBA, "buying their championship" but that doesn't work in basketball unless you have the leagues best player on your roster.

Funny thing is,Shump is trade bait, and if Tim Hardaway Jr works out,he will be as well.

Shump isn't a building block, he's very overrated and im not impressed with his game at all. If he was included in any deal being sent to the Raptors, I wouldn't want him...

And just to add more fuel to the stupidty-fire, Knicks are apparently paying Q-Rich's contract to make the trade work

The pick is going to be swapped by Denver anyway so I don't understand the infatuation with the pick that was given up.

The Knicks lack identity but Grunwald has done a decent job with the pieces he inherited. He's not the one that gave Amare the 100 million contract, nor was he the one that traded for Melo (not knocking the trade)

Freeing up Cap Space gives us the flexibility needed to obtain championship pieces.
