Or you could just listen to Late Registration

Hip Hop is the only genre where the "fans" hate to see growth and change in an artist.

n*ggas wanna hear the same album from the same artist over and over again

Beatles fans are glad that "Revolver" doesn't sound like "Sgt Pepper" which doesn't sound like "The White Album"

Pink Floyd fans are glad that "The Wall" doesn't sound like "Dark Side of The Moon"

All incredible albums for their own individual reasons, with their own separate sounds. And people appreciate them for their quality and diversity.

That's why artist in other genres are able to grow and reinvent themselves, and why on the flip side 95% of Hip Hop artist get stale and become irrelevant.

They let casual fans turn them into 1 trick ponies..

Gotta applaud Ye for continuing to grow as an artist and continuously evolving his sound, like all the greats in other genres do.
You, baller and Agent0 are having a great back and forth in here, that sh*t don't happen everyday.

8 Devil In A New Dress feat. Rick Ross
9 Runaway f. Pusha T
10 Hell Of A Life
11 Blame Game f. John Legend
12 Lost In The World
13 Who Will Survive In America
Um, what are these "Overproduced"/Wack tracks on this album? The craziest/most bizarre beat on this bi*ch is "All Of The Lights" and n*ggas know that sh*t was tight. I always think of the phrase "A Beautiful Mess" when I think of that instrumental. Next things that come to mind are "Power" (what I feel is his best beat, ever) and "Lost In The World."

If you have a problem with "Lost In The World," I could somewhat understand you only because it was the furthest thing from the traditional "Hip-Hop" sound on the album, but I still thought it was a dope track.

n*ggas on BX love talking about how MBDTF was "Overrated" or "Wack," but I'm looking at this tracklist and the only things I had a problem with was the sort of cheesiness on "Runaway" with the singing and some of the words he used ("Douchebags"/"Jerk Offs") and "Hell Of A Life" was missing something as far as the verses went. But the album was nuts.

The biggest difference between MBDTF and his 1st 2 albums was that there was not a really tight cohesive sound/theme to it. But each on of those tracks had dope a.ss beats, with my personally least favorite being "Monster."

Are you familiar with any of the albums that where in the first quote? Throw parliament/funkadelic in there as well... None of their albums sound the same. Evolution is incremental process. LR was going on four albums ago. Ye isn't in the same place as an artist or in life that he was during that era. I don't think his new music is overproduced I think he's trying to add new dynamics. Its funny because when Kanye hooked up with Jon Brion for late reigistration the complaints was that it was "over mixed" and sounded to clean.

Hip Hop fans expect their artist to stay in a box that they define. Thats not what artists do. Your sixth album shouldn't even be comparable sonically to your first or second.

But I guess people would prefer the route that Raekwon went with OBFCL2. Make an album that more or less content wise and the song structure and production style (while still "Classic Rae") is in the same box as an album that came out 15 years earlier.
Yes I'm very familiar with them seeing as I own them and you're missing a bit of the point I was making. If Kanye wants to experiment with different sounds and develop as a artist that's completely fine, J. Cole is growing up right in front of my eyes with the transition he's made from The Come Up to Sideline Story to Born Sinner. In all of those albums he's had a distinctive sound while building upon it.

With Ye I see a artist who has continued to tinker with his sound while gradually moving away from got people hooked to him as artist. He's alienated some parts of his fanbase for it, 808's being the biggest example. I'm not saying "Hey Kanye, rap, flow and produce EXACTLY how you did when you first started", I'm saying stick to your roots while building on the new experiences you've had in your life.
