96 i was in my last year of highschool i would go int othe city every tuesday and see what the new release schedule was. back then in australia we didnt really have the internet and hip hop wasnt that big so you had to go to the specialty stores to see whats up. it pretty hard to argue with that list 05-96 were probably my favourite years in hip hop.

yeah in most of the stores around here, they had a little chalkboard like sh*t, that would have all the monthly releases.... every month that sh*t was filled up with potential drops.... even with some of the CD's getting pushed back, you could still find a respectable drop on tuesday most of the time....

Imo if you had rap city on BET in australia at that time, a.ssuming not.... They used to play just straight rap songs for 2 hours..... every kind of rap also.....Was a great tool to hear some of the new up and coming emcees that were just breaking into the game.... no politics, every cat had their chance to shine....

umm...i believe that was '97 bruh... and the start of the "shiny suite" era, which made commercialism acceptable and was the beginning of the end for real hip hop.. 92 - 96 was the golden era.

As crazy as it sounds, I still think a lot of people will never let the chino xl diss track to 2pac go lol.... more so stans tbh.....most hip hop cats still, and even at that time fu*ked with both of them anyway... besides the ignorant cats that didn't listen to random east/ west heads at that time, cause they repped a certain city, nobody really stanned artist

and chino xl wordsmith is one of the best wordplay songs, I ever heard also... .A TON of battle rap cats abuse that angle in sh*t nowadays.... Cat was a trendsetter....

98 is seen as the goat year of hip hop wit albums, record sells, and the overall success that year.
fu*k outta here. You just saying this because DMX was at the height of his popularity, and Jay-Z was finally getting recognition in the game. 96 sh*ts all over 98.

The Outlawz squashed that Chino XL beef, and they respect the sh*t out of Chino's lyricism. Bun-B fu*ks with Chino XL heavey also. I'm a big a.ss Chino XL fan myself. extremely underrated. He was better than Mobb Deep by far. I heard that other Pac diss track freestyle also where he destroyed Pac on Julio G radio show (hate to admit it).

Episodes of a Hustla was a great album.

For comparison:

I say '93 was better:

Wu-Tang Clan - Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
Black Moon - Enta da Stage
Souls of Mischief - 93 'Til Infinity
Onyx - Bacdafucup
Fat Joe - Represent
Masta Ace - SlaughtaHouse
Cypress Hill - Black Sunday
Snoop Dogg - Doggystyle
Ice Cube - Lethal Injection
A Tribe Called Quest - Midnight Marauders
Big Daddy Kane - Looks Like a Job For...
Scarface - The World Is Yours
Geto Boys - Till death Do Us Part
KRS-One - Return of the Boom Bap
8Ball & MJG - Comin' Out Hard
De La Soul - Buhloone Mind State

'96 or '94 are up there too. The 90's were stacked though.

I know 96 was my personal favorite year for hip-hop. Hell, half of the CDs that came out that year, I still listen to.

Especially that Geto Boyz "Resurrection" CD. Still one of the best CDs of all time!

Still bump that E-40 "Hall of Game" and B-Legit "Hemp Museum" too. Same with that Richie Rich. Everything in 1996 was on point!

Ppl say 94. I say 95. The albums where all the heat was coming from dropped in 96. But I must admit, 96 can't talk to both the summers if 94 & 95 wheeeew!!! We were so spoiled! These young kids now are stuck with this distorted sounding trap stuff
