True or False.

30-60FPS, DX11 capable.

EDIT: Did some research and found a rig comparable to the XB1/PS4 Specs

visit this link Using this article to gauge the GPU, visit this link and this article to gauge the CPU.

This rig will probably perform considerably less than next gen consoles.

XB1: GIGABYTE HD7790 2GB GDDR5 ($170)
PS4: SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7870 2GB GDDR5
AMD FX-8350 4.0 GHZ ($200)
GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ ($130)
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB DDR3 1600 ($66)
Western Digital 500 GB HDD 7200RPM ($75)
LG Blu-Ray Burner ($70)
Thermaltake TR2 W0070 430W ($40)
Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case ($59)
Windows 7 Home Premium ($99)
---
Total = $910 (XB1) $1000 (PS4)

Just to match next-gen console from a core processing perspective, we're looking at investing anything between $200 to $300 in a graphics card. Factoring in the advantages developers have in addressing the technology more directly in a fixed architecture design, ideally we'd actually be looking to move beyond that, taking us into $300-$450 territory where we find two excellent products: the GeForce GTX 660 Ti and the Radeon HD 7950
The PS4 has 8GB of DDR5 that is unified across the system. This is one advantage of the PS4 that PC's can't match.

Eurogamer suggests going all in on a GPU with the most amount of graphics memory.

A rig that can match the XB1 and PS4 performance-wise if not exceed them.

GIGABYTE 7950 3GB GDDR5 ($319)
AMD FX-8350 4.0 GHZ ($200)
GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ ($130)
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB DDR3 1600 ($66)
Western Digital 500 GB HDD 7200RPM ($75)
LG Blu-Ray Burner ($70)
CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-650TX 650W ($90)
Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case ($59)
Windows 7 Home Premium ($99)

Total: $1118

$1k

Case-COOLER MASTER HAF 912 Mid Tower Computer Case
CPU-AMD FX 6300
Motherboard-GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+
Ram-8 GB G. Skill Ripjaws 1866 Mhz
PSU-Corsair CX600
GPU-Saphire Radeon HD 7970
SSD-SAMSUNG 840 Series MZ-7TD120BW 2.5" 120GB SATA III

Can you do it for less?

Edit:

I don't think the 'Master Race' is a viable alternative to next gen consoles on a price per performance ratio. If the PS4/XB1 are $400, and you stack that up to a PC at about the same price, do you expect to play games with better graphics and frame rates at the same resolution?

Is the performance gain that significant for $500 more?

The processor is overkill. You really don't need that expensive a.ss processor. In fact, you can play in 1080p with much weaker hardware. under 1K (without monitor or OS) is definitely feasible.

Not hard at all if you're used to following directions to a tee.

Stay grounded, and you shouldn't have any problems.

Probably. For all we know, we could be getting "upscaled" games like last gen.

Probably not. After the launch of the PS4/XB!, there isn't anything holding high end PC's back.

They all use desktop based CPU's, memory, and GPU's.

It's just a matter of devs optimizing for console specific GPU's and just ramping up the settings for PC's.

I think this will hurt the lower spec PC's however.

I didn't mind paying MORE for my PC when I originally got it, bc it does MORE than a console, and better. Even if the consoles retail at 399, which is a maybe, tax is pushing it to half the cost of a first time buyer PC. Once you have one, its cheap to keep it running at top of the line.

Nobody's arguing the benefit of a owning a PC. I'd a.ssume most people already have devices that handle the day-to-day taks of a PC anyway.

The benefits of owning a PC over a next gen console at 1080p seems marginal for almost double the price. Ultra settings at 50-60fps? Consoles will probably range anywhere from high-ultra at 30-60fps?

1 tb HD

Plays Nba 2k13 at a smooth 55fps on 46" 1080p plasma!!!
I just use that evga precision x, turn frame rate target to 75. I guess that's GPU oc.
Before I did that it was choppy.
