Kendrick Lamar "rappers need to stop talkin bout mollies"

Kendrick Lamar says, "It's time to move on" from referencing molly in rapper's lyrics.

With molly still circulating its way through the lyrics of rappers across the spectrum Kendrick Lamar took some time out to speak against the street drug and its use in songs.

The Compton, California native recently sat down with Sway Calloway and MTV News to discuss the drug's place in Hip Hop. He says he believes the use of the drug in lyrics is getting old quick and it's time to move on.

"Sometimes you have the trends that's not that cool," Kendrick said. "You may have certain artists portraying these trends and don't really have that lifestyle, and then it gives off the wrong thing. And it becomes kinda corny after a while."

No one person was as the butt of Lamar's comments however 2 Chainz, Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, French Montana, Lil Wayne and Wale are all ones who have referenced the drug in lyrics, among many others. K-Dot also said that use of the term also waters down Hip Hop and defaces its image.

"When everybody consciously now uses this term or this phrase and putting it in lyrics, it waters the culture down," Kendrick explained. "So it's really just time to move on."

couldnt you say the same thing about weed???? for a short period after wiz khalifa rise every fukking rapper because a weed rapper, then again after jay-z rise every rapper started to drop cocaine raps, and we know snoop and dre had everyone talking about weed, so isnt this just the trend in rap image

no different then how all the rappers became "sneaker heads" over night and started posting on instagram around the same time foams got reintroduced, rap is a very monkey see monkey do culture

kendrick has a voice that imo can make people take notice he should IMO focus on real sh-t like those schools being shutdown in chicago, most people dont even know about sh*t like that which is truly sad

The molly trend is the same as how Xtacy was big back in the early '00s.

I agree with K Dot, it's wack as hell to rap about.

Hiphop is late with this drug just like most drugs that became hiphop trends.

MDMA has been out since forever

Who cares? sh*t is wack as hell that every rapper all of a sudden is now rapping about it.

And lets be serious weed is more common. So when people rap about weed its no big deal because mostly everyone uses weed and its not something new. Molly may not be a new drug but its usage in hip hop is new and its rise in popularity as something acceptable within urban communities is new too. Its just become the cool thing to rap about

Glad Kendrick's taking advantage of his popularity and saying this. Mollies are nothin like weed, weed don't have the proven neg side effects that ecstasy does, and pushin this as a trend is irresponsible as fu*k.

I'm all for rappers not bein seen as role models and that parents need to watch what their damn kids listen too, but if u don't think the constant talk about Molly could influence and affect the younger generation, ur either an idiot or just too young to realize...

I'm not against Molly, I'm just not FOR the commercialization of it. We already made stoners outta these young'ns, we can't make em pill poppers too...

I think it's funny how all these rappers call it poppin mollies... as if its a pill.

Nobody, except uneducated rappers, call MOLLY, mollies.

And the angry black folks in here are hilarious too...

What if I told you MDMA (molly) and Ecstasy are pretty much the same thing? It's just one is pure MDMA and one is a bit of a speedball in a capsule.
