Was Pac lyrically the greatest? Nope. He has GOOD skill though. Peep, as an example, the alliteration of the lyrics in If I Die 2Nite. Dude was no slouch in the booth.

But saying he was wack is beyond a stretch; it's a lie. Even if he wasn't the best lyricist, the passion he put into his music MADE you relate, or try to. Even after he signed to death Row, when (i personally think) he went on that fake sh*t, he still was able to convey feeling in his bars in a way that really hasn't been matched with exception to DMX.

Overrated as a lyrical genius? Maybe so.

But his influence is unparalleled. Dude was bigger than the music.

There's a reason why he was 5 albums in and had only sold 8 Million records when he was alive

All Eyez on Me alone went 5× Platinum only after 2 months of it's release and that's when he was alive.

the fact that people go outta there way to contest Pac's legacy ironically makes his legacy even more stronger.

n*ggas will talk sh*t tol they blue in the face but its just the honest truth, regardless of whatever muscial taste or your biased against him, he will more than likely always be this mythic figure in hip hop because of the sh*t he did beyond just rapping and that hurts some n*ggas feelings who will always fall short of grasping the allure of pac, it takes more than than multi syllables and witty cryptic disses to stand the test of time

..oh and fu*k every bit of this thread, seriously this is just hate baiting at its best

I agree with him on the first 2 albums. I disagree with Me Against The World & Makaveli. I understand his viewpoint on All Eyez On Me. But you can tell he's an east coast d!ck rider. The only song he likes on Me Against The World is Old School FOH

I love 'Pac, but if you a.ssess his career with impartiality you'd understand why he was overrated, and overall, had an overwhelmingly negative impact on hip-hop music. Just look at some of the posts by these 'Pac fans and their aggressive nature, and tell me he isn't a negative influence. The man himself is the single reason why The Notorious B.I.G. is deceased.

He's far from being the best/greatest rapper of all time, which is why his fans phrase him as a "poet" (even though he used no poetical devices), or as the "greatest hip-hop artist", in spite of the fact that the man never made a single beat in his life--unlike a Kanye or Dr. Dre.

I doubt anybody can even name five positive things 'Pac has contributed to hip-hop, as his most glorified feat is bringing together the collapse of mainstream hip-hop by engaging in a pointless East-West coast beef for his own personal success. (He never had a platinum record until he started targeting B.I.G. in interviews and songs.)
