i never said the contracts were optimal. im merely referring to the constant comparisons to boxing. most boxing contracts suck as well, so comparing things based on floyd is silly
You're talking out of your a.ss now. Most boxing contracts don't "suck" because they have federal laws in place to prevent terrible contracts. Meanwhile, the UFC issues contracts were it owns it's f!ghters name and likeness even after they die.

I still don't see how people are in here defending these terrible contracts. A labor professor reviewed it and said it was by far the worst in all of sports but the Boxden lawyers are saying otherwise. The contract didn't even guarantee Alvarez a title shot. They are screwing these f!ghters over majorly.

outside of Floyd and Manny, guys aren't getting big dollars like that. But also its what k!lled boxing, not getting the f!ghts you want. But what UFC should do, is PPV revenue split at least to the guys headlining the event

To be honest i would rather have Couture career and money, than ending up like Ali or so many boxers out there...MMA is a much safer sport than boxing is...but they do get fu*ked by Zuffa tho.

This argument will never get resolved. First thing you must realize is UFC is a "league" where in boxing you make what you can sell. UFC promotes and pays for everything and these guys do some interviews and f!ght. In boxing the f!ghter or the promoter has to pay for everything. So of course more risk more reward. And also comparing Floyd to MMA guys is like comparing Kobe's money to the average NFL guy. It's not going to be close.

I think the top UFC guys are under paid. But the UFC has to pay way more guys per show than a boxing match and the UFC has shows damn near every week now and about 14-16 PPVs per year. Its hard to do big PPV numbers when you have one every 4 weeks.

It's silly to compare boxing pay with MMA pay, the set ups are totally different.

Hard to argue anything about what MMA f!ghters get paid really because we really don't know. Take when Ian McCall made 6k for his debut f!ght, but then said in the end he made over 80k.

MMA is not "much safer than boxing." That is a myth. MMA f!ghters are at risk for long term brain trauma just as much as boxers.

Why you people keep comparing the salaries of UFC to boxing while ignoring the topic? The UFC contracts are horrible. Even if the pay increased, the contracts are still horrible. It seems that most of you want to ignore this issue and somehow turn this into an MMA vs boxing thread.

UFC pay is bad but we really don't know how bad because the UFC does not fully disclose contracts. It's a very smart move and it makes f!ghters negotiate in the dark for better contracts. Jon Jones might get 10% of the PPV and 5% of the gate while Chuck Lidell might have gotten 20% PPV and 1% of the gate. Who knows? Them dudes need to unionize so that negotiations and contracts are fully disclosed so they know they are making progress and people are getting fair contracts. Right now the UFC is like the record industry and they like it that way.

But let's also analyze this fairly. The last Mayweather f!ght card had 8 f!ghts, and only 1 f!ght that most everyone wanted to see. UFC 158 had 12 f!ghts with 3 legitimate f!ghts that fans wanted to see. So while Mayweather can take damn near 70-80% of the PPV money b/c he promoted it as well, the UFC gotta pay GSP, Diaz, Hendricks, Condit, Ellenberger and Marquardt. Plus the PPV buys for UFC 158 was probably half of what the Mayweather-Guerrero PPV buys were.

So comparing boxing to MMA is apples to oranges. But the UFC guys are probably severely underpaid, but we'll never know until the UFC release contracts and PPV sales info.

Anderson gets $200,000 to show up. You have to take into consideration he gets a % of the PPV buys too. If they were going to give Eddie Alvarez $1 per buy you can bet Anderson and GSP are getting at least the very least $3-$4 per buy. So Silva is getting at least a million off of PPV buys even when he f!ghts bums. When he f!ghts guys with some name recognition he's probably make around 2 mill off of ppv money. GSP is getting 700k-900k ppv buys lately. He's definitely banking.

GSP said awhile ago that he brings in between $4-5 million per f!ght...i'm guessing that includes show money, PPV cut, possible merch, and sponsor money...sponsor money is not from the UFC's pocket...

Top f!ghters have to void the contract they're in by some loophole in the law.

Then those f!ghters need to create a union.

Plenty of benefits for these f!ghters as they may give up a little cash now, but will be head of a union and not have to get brain damage from it.

The UFC needs a Jimmy Hoffa.
