J. Cole Put A Deep a.ss Secret Meaning In Power Trip [SERIOUS TOPIC]

I am in no way a J. Cole fan nor have I ever been; I've always respected his hustle but this track really made me change my mind about how I think about J. Cole and his music. I have a roommate whose played this song literally a thousand or more times sine it dropped and after hearing it over 500 times I realized this is one of the deepest songs ever released in hip-hop history.

First of all this isn't a love song....at all.

I discovered J. Cole's secret message on the 2nd hook:

We are (x3)
Got me up all night
We are (x3)
Got me singing these love songs

His 1st verse talks about his comeup and his 2nd verse is made to throw you off the message lies in the hook.

I found it weird that J.Cole used We and Me switching literacy devices within the same hook. I began to understand that the "we are" is NOT him and a female the "we are" is ALL OF US (THE listeners)! "Got me up all night" refers to the studio and his record label he has to work all night to put out commercial type music. Secretly J. Cole is a secret conscious rapper and wants to make music like Power Trip but hates making this type of music. "Got me singing these love songs" is his argument to the industry and his label.

He made the genius decision to put Miguel in the song to THROW EVERYONE OFF the ladies would hear Miguel (the n*ggaz too) and miss the entire message. In the video the long drive represents his journey in the game while driving he is stopped by some rednecks and the cops; the rednecks represent how white people control and dictate the sells of music and the cops represent his record label (Universal/roc nation) allowing him to put out the track (notice they let him go with a dead body on the hood).

The hot bi-ch in the video is ALL OF US a naive person watching television and hearing but not understanding the true meaning of music. At the end J. Cole k!lls Miguel and buries him. Miguel represented commercial industry RnB bullsh-t he actually was not the woman's husband he was a fixation of all of our collective conscious imaginations of what music SHOULD BE. When J. Cole k!lls him and buries it he is saying I'm k!lling away this aspect of the music industry forever and creating a new style a new path. - Keith Clark

It actually makes more sense when you break it down that way.

Power Trip - An action undertaken chiefly for the gratification a.ssociated with the exercise of power over another or others

He's excercising the power an artist can have over both the industry and the listeners

Forreal Common Birthed all these concious rappers with "I used to Love Her". After that everybody has been making a metaphor for the the hip hop game in comparison in being in love with a lady.
