But not as much as Todd mcshay:

With the benefit of hindsight, we look back on what the experts said about LSU's JaMarcus Russell heading into the 2007 NFL Draft. The Oakland Raiders selected Russell with the No. 1 pick only to waive him three years later.

"I can't remember being in such awe of a quarterback in my decade of attending combines and pro days. Russell's passing session was the most impressive of all the pro days I've been to. His footwork for such a big quarterback was surprising. He was nimble in his dropbacks, rolling out and throwing on the run. The ball just explodes out of his hands."

This cracks me up every time the draft comes around, that pre-draft workout stuff is all show, you are taking bigger risks drafting in the 1st round because you really don't know what they are capable of until they hit the field. I always hear Todd and Mel say with a whole lot of scouts that JaMarcus Russell had hands down, the best combine and pro day they ever seen from one guy. It's like when I watch the draft now for the last 3-5 years, I don't even pay attention to mocks, I just let it happen

I dont see why everyones so down on the pick. They needed a QB, they felt he as the best one (they had their pick of everyone) and they picked up an extra pick out of it

I mean its not like buddy nix is clueless when it comes to QBs, he was on the scouting department of teams that draft eli manning/philip rivers and drew brees, plus the team that brought doug flutie back to the NFL, so im guessing he knows a little more about QBs than todd mcshay

Manuel has all the physical tool, and is a good fit for that offense, so if Marrone thought he was a better fit to run that offense than Nassib, Geno or Barkley, then whats the problem?

big difference tho..russell had the skills..alot of people were high on him.. he was just lazy as fu*k
that's one of the talented players downfalls... along w/ personal issues or injuries.

it makes me laugh when people think that good character isn't a high commodity, it really is.

BTW I didn't mind that Manuel pick. I honestly think he's tougher than Geno .

no hate, manuel is a.sss. FSU won a bunch of games with him at QB because they were more athletic than other teams, not off this bum a.ss n*ggas arm

at least miami fans admit jacory sucks, when will FSU fans do the same with E.J?
Go look at the FSU thread. I was the hardest n*gga on EJ. But there's a huge difference between struggling and sucking. Jacory sucked, he probably threw more INT's than TD's. EJ just struggled. He didn't go through his reads thoroughly, or didn't audible something at the line. All that is coachable. He made smart decisions at times and didn't utilize his mobility in fear of being labeled as a "running quaterback". But the fact remains he displays the intelligence that he can be coached up. He possesses tools that can't be coached and displays high character and a willingness to be coached.

How many more top 5 picks are you going to give up for a 3-10 record?

Bills traded down and added Kiko Alonso for EJ Manuel.

The Redskins traded up and lost out on a possible #1 overall pick for a 3-10 reccord
