Oh, and Jesus is in there somewhere

..

I want to know the ending. My girl went to see it with her Moms, glad I'm out of town, cause I don't like TP movies @ all, but she said the ending was unexpected, so now I wanna know how it ends.

all im saying is that i wish he could actually make a movie that is funny and show black people in a better light. hes so wrapped up in writin screenplays about abusive relationships and crackhead family members ruining lifes that he let a story like red tails land in the hands of george lucas

I actually watched a pretty good movie the other day with Wood Harris and Zoe Saldana called "the heart specialist". Wood harris was a doctor who was trying to writing a book on laughters benefits to health. it was a pretty decent flick and it had very few black stereotypes and the main characters were all black.

I would like to see Tyler Perry make a movie where stereotyping is not the main focus

That movie exists. It's called "Why Did I Get Married?"... And it, along with its sequel, are STILL the best, most "complete" films he has ever made. Those are the only ones in which his characters feel like characters, and not stereotypes.

Oh, please. People do not act or talk like the f*cking idiots in this movie. Look, I know we as humans do stupid things in the name of "love" or "lust". But, this film is ridiculous, full of coincidences and contrivances that doesn't seem applicable to this (or any) world. It's ludicrous. You'd think that in real life, there might be some gray areas. You'd think the woman might have some complicated reasons why she might cheat on her man. You might think that the rich businessman might have a little more to him than he's rich, drug addicted, and has AIDS. You'd think that any of these people would just stop, and evaluate their situation, and just f*cking talk to each other.

Rationalizing this stupid movie through the prism of real life is wrong. It's just wrong. And, the emotional shifts in this film feel wild & erratic in a way that isn't applicable to real life interactions. It's f*cking stupid. And, the folks who see this as applicable to their lives are people I don't want to know, and actively root against.
I only skimmed through the thread, but his wife is fu*kin a dude with AIDS?

Easily "Why Did I Get Married" and it's sequel.

None of them are "good" in the traditional sense. They're all essentially soap-operas with church and (sometimes) musical numbers to pad out the runtime. The only reason why "Why Did I Get Married" (and it's sequel) are "good" is because all the church, stereotypes, and musical garbage are mostly absent. And, each character seems to have nuances to them that is mostly missing from Tyler Perry's "non-subtle" view of the world.

I've seen an embarrassing number of his plays (grew up in a church-going family). So, I'd say the stage version of this movie is his best. Which is weird, because not alot has "changed" from its transition to film. I guess having more humor, and "better" actors does a world of good to distract from the garbage. Because, don't get it twisted, it's garbage.

Tyler Perry should have won an Oscar for "most negative stereotypes in one movie"

For Colored Girls takes the cake IMO, there's back alley abortions, children dropped out of apartment window by PTSD dad, ridiculously long r*pe scene by unsuspecting guy, self hating women, and that's just a small sample..

It's a shame, because the play that inspired it is amazing, and that book is amazing too. You wouldn't know that judging by that f*cking movie. It's like Tyler Perry's attempt to make an Oscar film, and it backfired... hardcore.

Wow that's crazy I will check out the play then. I was always told that his plays are either hit or miss and he hasn't made a good movie since "Diary of a mad black women". It's crazy how it would be better as a play than as a movie. You would think it would be the other way around. But I still may check out the movie too because I kind of got a crush on Jurnee a little bit.

As far as his movies go I can agree that the movies I have seen from him have all sucked. But I really like that "Madea's big happy family" joint in it though it was stereotypical as fu*k. But I was glad Teyana Taylor was in it

As well Lauren London too

That one was kind of funny to me. But I will also check out "Why did I get married" as well one of these days.

Thanks for the recommendations!
