PhoneArena.com's Samsung Galaxy S4 vs HTC One

These are the two Android phones of the year, or at least for the first half of the year. While the HTC One X lost the f!ght against the Galaxy S III last year, it looks like HTC has better chances in 2013.

The HTC One is equal to the Galaxy S4 in many aspects, and where it feels inferior to the Samsung, it manages to make up for it with something else. The HTC One looks and feels like an expensive product, which isn't something we can say for the Galaxy S4.

The Galaxy S4, however, has its own advantages. Its uninspiring design is actually surprisingly comfortable to hold and use. Its dimensions feel significantly smaller, while its weight is lighter.

With the Galaxy S4, Samsung is continuing its quest towards complete domination over the land of Android, transforming the colorful, chaotic jungle into a profitable industrial area. With the One, HTC proves that the former contract manufacturer does deserve its place among the leading smartphone companies. There really cannot be a better phone between these two, as both are successfully countering each other with their own unique a.ssets.

Thats wassup, I still prefer the design on the HTC One. I'm a casual user and I'm sure the One will be more than capable of doing what I need it to do

"Overall Impressions

There has been a ton of hype and build-up to this device, and ultimately, it left us feeling cold. The S IV feels uninspired. There are small spec bumps from the previous generation and there's a ton of software which will largely sit unused. There's just no wow-factor here.

I had the HTC One with me during my hands on time, and the difference is like night and day. For starters, the One is noticeably faster in every context. When flicking between screens, opening apps, and taking photos there was clear lag on the Galaxy S IV, whereas everything was almost instantaneous on the One. To be fair, this wasn't the final production version of the S IV, and who knows which processor was in the model I had. There's a chance it'll be faster at launch.

But even purely from a design perspective, the One absolutely crushes the S IV. When you pick up the One, you feel like you're holding something amazing, both in the build and the screen. When you pick up the S IV, you feel like you're holding an S III with a few extra bells and whistles."

"Guys... i wanna let u in on how stupid quad scores are... here is why.

some dev's trick u into thinking the score is high... and this is how they do it.

first
u would obviously wanna have the quadrant app.

now... follow these steps:

1. adb remount
2. adb shell
3. su
4. mount -o rw -t tmpfs tmpfs data/data/com.aurorasoftworks.quadrant.ui.standard
5. run quad and watch your score go nicely up to the 1800-1900 (using a stock kernel btw... will probably be more with other kernels).

Please note that if u have the paid version btw... u will need to type in in step #4 this instead:
mount -o rw -t tmpfs tmpfs /data/data/com.aurorasoftworks.quadrant.ui.advanced

now u know how those nice devs fool u into looking at high scores on quadrant and make it look as if its real... and now u know that quadrant scores means exactly nothing. so quad lovers... please grow up."

Lastly, since you want to talk about quadrants, here is one from phoneareana.com, even with the S4 having the same processor as the One just overclocked by 200mhz more (which is going to hurt battery life) this is what they got:

Source:

"Samsung GS4

Quadrant: 12078
Antutu: 24701
GL Benchmark: 4437
Vellamo: 1702 / 704

HTC One

Quadrant: 12481
Antutu: 23308
GL Benchmark: 3551
Vellamo: 2395 / 781"

theyre both good phones. its all about preference. id rather have a metal device that feels strong than a light plastic device. they both excel at everything. i keep reading Sense 5 on the One feels much smoother and imo the ui looks a lot better than Touchwiz. Im running Sense 5 right now and i have to say its great. And i was never a fan of sense.

I had no intention of getting the One until I flashed sense 5 on my lte. Sense 5 and them dual front speakers got me like

lmao at that ichiro smiley

If the scores are faked, why did GSM Arena get the same exact results too?

You really think PhoneArena and GSMArena went through all that trouble to fake some scores? They're not developers dumb n*ggas, they're just reviewers. You HTC POS lovers are in so much denial right now, HTC got ya'll lookin at the Galaxy S IV scores like

HTC lost.

Those scores really don't mean much to the casual user. I prefer the HTC ONE because of the build quality, and I've liked sense since the original EVO.

Now y'all play nice and quit arguing about scores

them scores dont mean sh*t bruh.
the phonearena one i posted has the One scoring higher with the same cpu at a lower clock speed.
guess you didnt see that though.
and you dont have to be a developer to make them changes dumb n*gga.
apparently you didnt see where it said

Samsung GS4

Quadrant: 12078
Antutu: 24701
GL Benchmark: 4437
Vellamo: 1702 / 704

HTC One

Quadrant: 12481
Antutu: 23308
GL Benchmark: 3551
Vellamo: 2395 / 781

i know its hard to accept that a phone with the same cpu at a lower clock speed has better scores but it is what it is fu*kin cornball. and im a good device fan, not an htc fan. the s4 is a good phone but its no better than the one on top of the fact its ugly as fu*k. calm down the samsung f*ggotry.

Y.G. lost.

you see the one x, xl, s, and evo lte are getting 4.2 and sense 5 in a couple months also. htc aint fu*kin around anymore. im running 4.1.2 sense 5 right now and as a person who fu*kin hated sense i have to admit i like it a lot. didnt think i would like the blinkfeed or zoe sh*t but blink is sick and zoe is pretty cool too. took a bunch of zoe sh*t all weekend for easter.

This idiot has officially lost it. The different sites (GSM Arena and PhoneArena) both posted two different quadrant tests but both have the same scores, yet this moron thinks that both of these sites faked the test.

Why would they both fake tests you f*ckin idiot? Why can't this c*ck gobbler just can't accept the fact that HTC has eternally lost? Then the moron says that scores don't matter but posts some more scores, as if those all of sudden matter. It must be the poor education system in Bumf*ck, Pennsylvania.

Where did i say they faked it?
I showed its not difficult and easily faked.
Quadrant scores dont indicate real life performance and ui fluidity either.
Meaning these scores dont mean sh*t.
You know that though.
And heres a link showing Phone fu*king Arena dot fu*king Com with the One having higher quadrant scores.
Cock gobbler.. what is this n*gga? 12? Corny as hell.
