That's EXACTLY how I see X and Jay!

X and Stone Cold had their hottest run during the same period (98-01). The whole world stood up and took notice to what they were doing and as Kokaine said, took their respective games to a whole new level. They burned out as fast as they rose but their peak run will always stand out and be remembered...and missed

Jay-Z and HHH were always considered upper tier but not quite main eventers and even when they were on top, there was always someone who was a bigger deal than them (for Jay-Z it was DMX, Eminem, Nelly, and 50 Cent/HHH it was Austin and The Rock). These two became top dog when their comp either fell off or disappeared. Not to mention when they cemented their current top status when they started hooking up with the most powerful women in the game (Beyoncé and Stephanie McMahon).

Look at the songs, and Use your noodle...

"Hottest ni**a on the block
Used to wheelie bicycles since I was six
Highschool crossover, waived away picks
Music is the same sh*t, gave away hits"
Half the songs were for other peoples albums... So check the Album and Singles sales for Mariah's, Dupri's, Ruff Ryders, Missy Elliot's, R.Kelly's, Bleek's, Sigel's, Amil's, MOP's, Timbaland's, Rush Hour's Soundtrack, Backstage Soundtrack, Nutty Proffesor 2's Soundtrack, Martin Lawrence Movie Soundtrack's joints...

Factor in what amount of those Sales had to do with Jay's being on their Single(most cases the lead single)...

Factor in how much $ Jay Made off that...

Then come back and talk about #'s.

The Thread has been closed son... Sorry.

'98 - '00 will always be remembered as THE RUFF RYDER ERA.

'00 - '02 is Eminem/murder INC Era

after that it was G-Unit Era...so on & so forth.

The truth about Jay-Z is that he was #2 or #3 for most of his career.

But you cannot deny Hov's consistency. That alone makes Jay-Z top 3, if not THE best of all time in the grand scheme of things.

Jay Z was Triple H? LMAO

If anything Jay Z was Rock and DMX was Austin. DMX was always aggressive while Jay was more laid back.

I swear ya will find anything to discredit Jay. Talking about Jay was Pippen to X. Ya must be out of your minds.

Everyone came and went, yet Jay remains up top.

Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life - 5X PLATINUM
Vol. 3... The Life and Times of S. Carter - 3X PLATINUM
The Dynasty Roc la Familia - 2X PLATINUM

DMX

It's Dark and Hell Is Hot - 4X PLATINUM
Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood - 3X PLATINUM
...And Then There Was X - 5X PLATINUM

n*ggas are in here posting a bunch of singles. I guess Usher, Fergie, and Justin Bieber can thank Ludacris for their sales. Missy, Mariah Carey, Juve, R. Kelly, and others were going to sell regardless. Not because of fu*kin Jay-Z...

Just because Jay-Z dropped alotta singles doesn't mean they made as much as an impact as DMX's singles.

Jay-Z 1998-2000
Hard Knock Life Vol 2 - 5X Platinum
Vol 3 ... Life and Times of S. Carter - 3X Platinum
The Dynasty: Roc La Familia - 2X Platinum

DMX 1998-2000
It's Dark and Hell Is Hot - 4X Platinum
Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood - 3X Platinum
...And Then There Was X - 5X Platinum

And DMX sold more albums.

At the end of the day you have to give it to X because he shut the game down off straight grimey music, he never needed RNB features, flashy videos, or trend chasing to sell records
