This is where you're wrong. If you listen to their last album, they weren't trying to do "super rappity rap bullsh*t". They were making actual songs, for the people who say sh*t like this.
You guys wanted rappity rap? Listen to their first album.
You guys wanted actual songs with scructure? Listen to their second album. No one's ever satisfied with what they do.
And @ Joell Ortiz. He hasn't put a project out since 2010, and that's only because the album leaked on Amazon. If it had never leaked, he wouldn't have a second album out right now because of how lazy he is. He's a lazy piece of sh*t who's never going anywhere as a solo artist.
But they suck at making music together though. There's a few good songs that I like (I'm being fair, far from hating) but for the most part just cause you're lyrical and just cause you're good buddies doesn't necessarily mean you should be in a group together. Like I said, styles clash and everyone wants to be in the spotlight.
And from what I've heard (I couldn't stomach through the entire project), their latest album sucked. I haven't heard a single positive review about it and I'm not exaggerating, sadly. I'm glad they're going the mainstream/money making route, but don't expect me to enjoy their music now.
I disagree with you about Joell simply because being part of SH hasn't done sh-t for him. At least as an individual MC, he has one dope album under his belt (regardless of its failure/success). I dunno the dude personally, so I can't speak on his work ethic but if he were to drop a solo project this year, I'd most definitely support that over any SH album or mixtape to ever come out again.
And respect to Royce and Crook, I know they're dope, but I never been a huge fan of either. Never got into their music.
I think the only thing keeping SH together at this point is the Shady contract/money.
