all i am going to say, from my experience and readings and just living life. an article like this a pure journalism fear tactics. are the facts completely bullsh*t, not at all. but an article like this will catch the attention of a current college student or a somebody planning to go to college and in return receive a lot of attention. don't let the world scare you away. don't let that happen. find your vision, educate yourself, and make something out of yourself. don't be afraid to fail or in this case "move back in with your parents" or "accumulate some debt" if this path is going to eventually lead you to your happiness and put you where you want to be in life, then this is what the universe has planned for you. stay positive, set goals, achieve those goals and dont be afraid. FEAR is how you are controlled on this planet. for what it's worth, I believe in you. Anybody who cares to get an education, i believe in.

fu*k that sh*t, I stuck to my job for 5 years and got 3 raises a company car + a bunch of vacation time. I dont have 60k+ debt, and I dont need to waste another 2-4 years as an intern to one day finally making less then what I am making now. In 2 years I am going to be a manager at a new shop my owner is going to open.
What do you do there?

ive been working in corporate america (pharmaceuticals) for over 10 years now and i can honestly say ive seen both sides of the spectrum. I have my degree and im proud of it but i'd be lying if i said i couldnt easily do my job without it. for the most part any person with some common sense can do the job of someone who makes 60-90k in my profession. We got people at my job with masters and everything else and are still dumb as bricks when it comes to their job. Hell half the people i work with have a degree in something that has nothing to do with what they do.

now i aint saying getting a degree is bullsh1t cause its not. it can definitely help you get in the door if you dont have the connections. but im not going to sit up here and act like just cause someone has a degree they understand and can do their job. me personally, i'd rather have the high school graduate with common sense that knows how to do their job then the guy with the masters who keeps asking how to do the samething over and over again even though you trained him on it numerous times.

thats some young ignorant sh*t to say.. my first year outta college I know I made 3 times what you making now, but my money doesn't affect you so why bring it up? some people luck up and get situation based on who they know and not what they know. then some people just slave away at a job until everyone else leaves and you move up(i believe that is what you did). Then some people get jobs based on what they know solely.. those people like myself get paid very well. fu*k a company car n*gga that is some 1970's aint we lucky we got em good times bullsh*t to be proud of. n*ggas at pizza hut get company cars, ups get a company truck, hell public transportation workers get buses and trash trucks

if you ain't getting stocks options which without a degree you will never get, or get carte blanche(i know you have to look it up) vs a company credit card, or your own secretary you ain't doing sh*t to brag about. you not even a manager yet you bragging fu*k is that about.. you have alot of growing up to do..

What happens if the company you work for goes under??

You are going to be starting from square 1 again my n*gga. Where as if you had a degree the transition wouldn't be as hard.

Tried to tell n*ggas about this in the Finance thread. Sitting on debt for years with no guaranteed job! It's a new day. Spend those 4-6 years growing your own business, or working a good career, and u will be ahead of most of the graduates. Of course if u want to be a specialist (lawyer, doctor etc), then u need college.

I think a really big issue is the fact that Americans have recently been programmed to believe they should run away from home as fast as possible. Don't save up any money. Nah, as soon as u get a lil $$$, immediately try and find as many ways possible to accumulate debt. Making sure you will forever be our slaves.

Stay home with the folks, u prolly less likely to end up stuck with a spouse and kids with an open mouth.

Not to say that this article's info isn't important, cuz it is. But I think we really need to start thinking about the way we live our lives anyway.

My professor got a law degree and an MBA... Used the connects he made in college and started up a TV station that he sold to QVC for $$$$

Then flipped that into a bunch of radio stations that he sold for even more $$$$

Took that money bought a sh!t load of spectrum and started Cricket (The prepaid cell phone company)

Now he teaches because he feels like it a drives a Bentley to work. Spent a weekend playing golf with Obama and Tiger Woods all off of money he made with connects he made in college. (Met Barack and Michelle when he was in law school).

You may want to make nearly 100k.... But he tells people if you wanna drive a Bentley college is a great idea

That's dope. College is very important for picking up new contacts and new ideas from people who come from a completely different background. What u learn in class comes 3rd or 5th maybe (aside from your important major classes). U won't remember most of that sh*t anyway. The biggest thing is the life changing experiences that college can bring. That was something i'd gladly pay for again.

at you for letting society dictate how you should live your life, so they can make sure they make as much money as possible off your a.ss. The fallacy with this report is the fact that they a.ssume the kids are living rent free and not helping out their parents who possible can't make ends meet because of loss of job or something else. These stats never put sh*t into context.

Of course society wants you to get your own place, because that's more money.

This right here...the infomation can be gathered from anywhere...we have the internet people...but the journey is what strengthens and prepares you

And I dont see a problem with living at home...I dont, but sh*t I'm at my fam's house every other weekend anyway. I make enough money to support myself and sustain my lifestyle, but when I came home after college, I lived at home for about a year or so, but I got a job, stacked my sh*t and moved out...Dont feel bad about it, look at it like anything else, you gotta get your feet under you to make yourself stable, then you can run that race at your pace..

Some of these other people had phukked up parents who do sh*t like kick em out and dont know how to show love, so they'll make you feel like you're doing something wrong by living with your parents, just because THEY CANT!!
