Alex Smith is fit to be a good West Coast QB. Exactly Reid's style of offense. Problem is, Reid doesn't stay true to WCO principles half the time, and falls in love with the pass. True, WCO use short passes to mimic a running play, but when you gotta back like McCoy, and now Charles, you gotta let them do their thing. KC needs to get a play making TE, and possibly a good slot WR because Alex Smith is a middle of the field guy. He struggles outside the numbers, which is why Crabtree didn't do anything with him at QB. Since he's a middle guy, Vernon Davis ate. KC needs to realize this and get him a good TE, although it's gonna be impossible to get one as good as Davis right now.
Reid and Dorsey for whatever reason are in win now mode, I mean you got the veteran talent on defense and OL and RB, I understand that part. But the smarter move is the long game IMO, the 34th pick and a likely 3rd/4th next year is too much for Alex Smith IMO. It's up to Reid to get the most out of AS11 though. We'll see. But it's blatantly obvious Reid is shook about losing his job again, he's forcing a desperate move, not having confidence in his proven skill to develop QBs. AS11 is seasoned, but he's just a guy let's be honest, I think Reid would of got far more out of Geno.
Maybe not this immediate year, but the next, you bet.
