I can't really give a very good answer because there are so many films I haven't seen yet... I've watched a lot more classic films this year than contemporary. But as for what I've seen so far:

1. "Lincoln"
2. "Silver Linings Playbook"
3. "Argo"
4. "The Dark Knight Rises"
5. "Django Unchained"
6. "The Master"
7. "Moonrise Kingdom"
8. "Skyfall"

^^^"Lincoln" and "Silver Linings" easily being the 2 Best films I've seen this year. Both 9.5 outta 10 with good chances to get bumped up to a 10 on second viewing... I'm almost certian that on a second viewing, I'll probably like "The Master" more than "Django"(more challenging & more substance). Strangely after having been innitially dissapointed, I've been thinking about "The Master" a lot lately and am dying for another chance to soak that one in.

Films I Haven't Seen Yet:

Zero Dark Thirty - (will probably be in my Top 5)
Amour - (now on my radar)
Beasts of the Southern Wild - (on my Netflix list)
Flight - (on my Netflix list)
The Sessions - (on my Netflix list)
Looper - (on my Netflix list)
Life of Pi - (eh)
Chronicle - (on my Netflix list)
The Hobbit - (couldn't decide what format to see it in, ultimately said fukk it)
Les Miserables - (eh, I've seen the Charles Laughton Version. Not really interested)
Cloud Atlas - (on my Netflix list)
Wreck it Ralph - (on my Netflix list)
End of Watch - (on my Netflix list)
The Perks of Being a Wallflower - (on my Netflix list)
Arbitrage - (on my Netflix list)
I just realized I left "Prometheus" off my list...

Just a thought... but why not actually watch the movie first before trashing it?
Spike Lee is that you?

It is much more then just a western or a exploatation film imo

Just a thought... Read the thread before you post out off your a.ss like this.

I've seen "Django" and it's #5 on my "So Far" list.

Because, Flight was a bunch of amazing performances in a just-okay movie. Flight will not stick with me, or be memorable to me even three months from now.
dread was a great movie?i mean i actually enjoyed it.its a shame more people didnt give it a chance but acting in flight i think should put it over tha top

I believe his point was, and he's correct, that since Affleck isn't nominated for Director... "Argo" has no shot at Winning Best Picture. Same goes for "Zero" & "Django".

So yeah, "Django" & "Argo" are certainly no longer considered front runners.

I'm almost Certain that no Movie in Academy Award History has Won Best Film without it's Director even being nominated.

There are Rules to the Whole Oscar game.

It'll either be "Lincoln" or "Silver Linings Playbook"(the nomination of Weaver in Best Supporting Actress is a tell tale sign of just how in love with the film Academy Members are, as almost no one was expecting it). "Amour" is a Darkhorse.

It's happened 3 times

Driving Miss Daisy (1990)

Wings (1929)

Grand Hotel (1932)

but yea, 3 out of 84 is not really that common.

Nice list mang, I gotta see that Beasts Of The Southern Wild! Looks dope!

MY TOP TEN (In no order after the top 3)

1. Django Unchained
2. Once Upon A Time In Anatolia (This should be best foreign flick, they fu*ked up not listing it)
3. Argo
4. End Of Watch
5. Hara-Kiri: death Of A Samurai
6. James Bond: Skyfall
7. Being Flynn (underrated, Deniro was amazing in this. Depressing movie but good)
8. The Dark Knight Rises
9. Zero Dark Thirty
10. Cloud Atlas

Honerable Mentions: Prometheus and Looper

I have not seen Life Of Pi yet, and besides Daniel Day Lewis great acting and some cool cinematography I felt Lincoln was very overrated personally. I usually love the so called 'borign' movies and I mainly watch foreign flicks, but Lincoln just bored me to death. Its a technically well made film but I just didnt like it much, I respect it but was boring.

As far as movies I thought would suck but I ended up enjoying (or that got slept on or bad reviews that i didnt agree with) are as follows: Flight, k!lling Them Softly, Cosmopolis and Paperboy (Far from amazing movies or best of the year, but ended up jsut being alot better then expected).

Im with you about Cloud Atlas though, how that can be on peoples worst of the year lists is beyond me. As Ebert said, one of hte most ambitious movis ever.
have to check some of the foreign flicks, ive been distant from them for awhile

I didn't like End of Watch that much. It prides itself on realism but at the same time a lot of sh*t was incredibly unrealistic. I loved, LOVED the rapport between Pena and Jake though best thing throughout the movie. I would probably give it a 6/10. I really need to see Once Upon A Time In Anatolia I had it dl'd a while back but never got to it.

have you watched it at home yet? i'm willing to bet you'll experience the same thing you did with The Avengers. i liked The Avengers more the second time i saw it in the theater, i liked TDKR less.

with that being said, Silver Linings Playbook is the best movie i've seen this year
I watched both in IMAX when they came out and then both again on Blu-Ray when they released.

I wouldn't care if I never watched Avengers again in my life, TDKR on the other hand, I actually bought the blu-ray and will be watching it for years to come.

That I have seen...

I'd prolly put it right under "Django" & "The Master".

Fassbender's performance is flawless, and is a much bigger Snub for Best Supporting Actor than DiCaprio's imho.

Yes, I've watched "TDKR" on Blu-Ray twice already...

It has it's flaws(some of which are inexcuseable), but it's still a very satisfying end to the Trilogy... And something I enjoy watching, as a life long Batman fan.

I've still got a bunch of movies to see before I try to formulate a list of my own, but I really liked Safety Not Guaranteed and The Perks of Being a Wallflower, which aren't on your list. Not sure if they'd fit mine either, but definitely be honorable mentions.

The movies at the top of my list in no particular order right now though are probably:

Django Unchained
Beasts of the Southern Wild
Argo
Looper
