VIP Scoop: FSU commit sets UNC official visit

Florida State running back commit Amir Rasul (Coral Gables, Fla.) said he will officially visit North Carolina January 22-24.

Tar Heels running backs coach Larry Porter visited Rasul Monday afternoon and set the trip up.

"Coach Porter is an outstanding, amazing man," Rasul said. "He met with me and some of my teachers and we were very impressed with him."

Raul said North Carolina has been pushing the hardest for him.

Florida State a.ssistants Tim Brewster and Jay Graham stopped by the school last week and went in-home.

"That was awesome," Rasul said. "That was incredible. It went real well."

Rasul received a phone call late last night from Alabama area recruiter Mario Cristobal, who plans to meet with him Wednesday.

"Coach Cristobal knows my family real well and my uncle went to high school with him so there's some strong ties there," Rasul said.

A potential offer could happen which would lead to an official visit to Alabama in January.

Rasul said his third official visit would most likely go to USC in January as he talked to their off the field recruiting guys yesterday.

Rasul said he doesn't plan to officially visit Florida State since he's been there "five times already."

The four-star recruit is ranked as the nation's No. 7 running back and the No. 31 prospect in Florida in the 2016 class by 247Sports.com Composite Rankings.

Harbaugh, Wheatley To Go In-Home With Walker

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and running backs coach Tyrone Wheatley are in New Jersey and will go in-home with the nation's top running back tonight in Wayne (NJ) DePaul Catholic Kareem Walker.

Interim linebackers coach Chris Partridge was at DePaul Catholic earlier this afternoon to check in on Walker as well during a stretch run through New Jersey high schools on Tuesday.

Where will Kareem Walker commit to?

71% - UM
21% - Bama
4% - ASU
4% - Penn State
All Crystal Ball Predictions
Walker, who is fresh off of a state championship victory over the weekend, is scheduled to take an official visit this weekend to Arizona State. He is also considering Alabama, Auburn and Florida State.

Our latest intel regarding Walker tells the same story we've heard since his decommitment from Ohio State. The Wolverines feel good about their eventual chances with the four-star, who may enroll early (unconfirmed) and commit sometime within the next month or so. It remains unclear who the major competition for Walker is, although Arizona State has been recruiting him for a while, including the entirety of his original commitment to the Buckeyes.

Walker is currently ranked 38th overall in the 2016 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, with offers from a plethora of programs all across the country.

Source: Charles Kelly expected to return to FSU

When Auburnís defensive coordinator Will Muschamp left four days ago to take the head coaching job at South Carolina, rumors began swirling that current Florida State defensive coordinator Charles Kelly could be Muschampís replacement at Auburn.

Tonight, Noles247 has learned that is unlikely to happen.

A source with direct knowledge has informed Noles247 that Charles Kelly is expected to turn down the job if heís offered and coach at FSU in 2016.

Kelly is an Auburn graduate. He played defensive back for the Tigers from 1986-1989 and and was a graduate a.ssistant at Auburn in 1993. Kelly was hired at FSU in 2013 as linebackers coach and promoted to defensive coordinator in 2014 when Jeremy Pruitt left FSU for the same job at Georgia.

Joyner Locked In With Lawing

In speaking with a source familiar with the recruitment of linebacker Keion Joyner (Havelock, N.C.), the prospect is still a heavy lean to Florida State.

Brad Lawing, a former a.ssistant coach at Havelock (NC), has signed several prospects from the school in the last two decades.

"(Joyner) goes with Lawing period," the source said.

Lawing has been "talking with" Joyner but hasn't stopped by the school this month, the source said.

"The only movement (with Joyner) would be if Lawing goes to South Carolina," the source indicated.

The source believes Joyner is still a take for Florida State.

Joyner hasn't heard from any other programs in a month as everyone else is believed to have cooled on his recruitment given some off the field red flags.

The four-star recruit is ranked as the nation's No. 14 outside linebacker and the No. 9 prospect in North Carolina in the 2016 class by 247Sports.com Composite Rankings.

VIP Scoop: FSU to bring in USC commitment

Florida State is expected to host a USC commitment this weekend on an official visit. Per a source with knowledge of his recruitment, the Seminoles will host four-star tight end Cary Angeline of Exton (Pa.) Downingtown East.

FSU has been involved with Angeline dating back to early August. Angeline has been committed to USC since June.

Tight ends coach Tim Brewster has led the charge regarding Angeline's recruitment. He visited with the 6-foot-7, 230-pound tight end last week.

Head coach Jimbo Fisher is expected to do an in-home with Angeline after the dead period.

The 247Sports.com Composite ranks Angeline as the No. 8 tight end in the nation.

Charles Kelly on the trail solidifying the secondary

Noles247 has confirmed that Florida State defensive coordinator Charles Kelly is visiting with two key defensive back prospects today. Kelly will see FSU's top commit, five-star cornerback Levonta Taylor at his school in Virginia Beach, before flying to Tampa for an inhome visit with Pasco high school four-star Jayvaughn Myers.

Taylor has been solidly committed for nearly 10 months. He's the No.1 ranked cornerback in the country and the 7th best player overall. FSU also likes him as a return man. Taylor is expected to make an early impact at FSU.

Myers decommitted from Florida last week after being committed since August. FSU a.ssistant coach Lawrence Dawsey is his primary recruiter and is expected to be present during tonights visit with Kelly. Myers is the No.24 ranked cornerback in the country and the 261st best player overall. FSU likes his versatility as Myers could play either corner or safety in FSU's defensive scheme.

FSU is hoping to add two to three more defensive backs to their current commitments -- Levonta Taylor and Kyle Meyers. Besides Jayvaughn Myers, FSU is also actively pursuing Trayvon Mullen, Brandon Burton and Carlos Becker.

VIP Scoop: FSU Visiting Nate Craig-Myers Again

Noles247 has learned Florida State a.ssistant coach Lawrence Dawsey is expected to visit Tampa (Fla.) Catholic four-star wide receiver Nate Craig-Myers today. The visit is expected to occur during the day and may have already happened.

As we reported earlier today, Dawsey, along with defensive coordinator Charles Kelly will be doing an inhome visit with Craig-Myer’s brother, Jayvaughn Myers, Wednesday evening.

FSU is recruiting the Myers brothers separately. They’ve explained numerous times that while they might end up playing football at the same school in college, they are not a package deal.

Craig-Myers attended FSU’s home game against Miami this season. He has not taken an official visit to FSU, that will take place in January. Craig-Myers most recently said he’ll decide near the end of January or on Signing Day.

Arkansas sends trio to see one of top targets on the board

A trio of coaches were at Springhill (La.) today to see 4-star North Webster running back Devin White. Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema along with Michael Smith (wide receivers) and Jemal Singleton (running backs) did an in-home visit with White.

White officially visited Arkansas last weekend and will be at LSU this weekend. He also has officially visited Florida State. White now plans to be a midterm graduate and also is considering Alabama and Ole Miss. Despite not taking an official visit to those two schools he has made numerous unofficial trips and is still considering them as well.

Thanks to my guys for stopping through the country to visit with me @BretBielema @CoachSings @CoachMichaelSmith

Robinson's recruitment is over, set to enroll early

Florida State got great news on Wednesday evening when Panama City (Fla.) Bay four-star weak-side defensive end Janarius Robinson put a final end to his recruitment.

Robinson has cancelled his official visit to Florida, which was scheduled for this weekend.

He had previously taken an official visit to Alabama. Georgia was also considered to be in the running for his services.

Robinson, who originally pledged to FSU in September of 2014, also unveiled that he is set to enroll at FSU in January.

The 247Sports.com Composite ranks Robinson as the No. 68 prospect in the nation and No. 4 weak-side defensive end.

D.C. lineman enjoys in-home visit with Nebraska

On Tuesday night Nebraska offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh surprised some people when he popped up in a photo with offensive lineman Jauan Williams during an in-home visit. Williams had long been a tackle the Huskers were recruiting, but until the 6-foot-7, 300-pound lineman was towering over the NU position coach, most had a.ssumed the ship had sailed.

Instead, Williams and Cavanaugh discussed bringing the lineman to Lincoln for a visit. The four-star lineman is eyeing a trip to Lincoln on January 22.

During the in-home visit Williams said Cavanaugh touched on a lot of different things over the several hour experience. The coach gave him a good run down of the program and the lineman said he felt like he learned quite a bit about Nebraska.

"I learned a lot,” he said. "I learned a lot about the school, they have great facilities and really it’s a lot to take in. Coach Cavanaugh was there for a good while.”

There’s no doubt why Nebraska is showing interest in the four-star tackle. The Huskers lose Alex Lewis, Zach Sterup, as well as Matt Finnin and Givens Price, four different lineman who played at tackle at some point in their careers.

The Huskers lack of depth is music to Williams ears.

“I can bring aggressiveness and I’d f!ght to be playing as a true freshmen,” Williams said. “I guess Nebraska lost a lot of tackles this year.”

Despite Nebraska’s need the Huskers are going to have to battle a number of teams. Williams rattled off Alabama, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Maryland and Virginia Tech as schools that are still recruiting him hard at this point.

The lineman said he’s set up an official visit to Florida State for this forth coming weekend but doesn’t have any other officials scheduled at this time. Williams has made a number of visits this season to various places, so he’s being judicious as to where he’ll take his final trips.

That also means Williams has a pretty high standard of what it’ll take to win his commitment.

"I want to find a place with great facilities, great players, a great atmosphere and great coaches that are willing to stay and develop me over the next few years,” he said.

Vols visiting five-star athlete

Five-star senior athlete Mecole Hardman Jr. of Elbert County High School in Elberton, Ga., told 247Sports that Tennessee wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni is making an in-home visit with him Wednesday night.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Hardman has been one of the Vols' top targets in the 2016 class for more than a year. He has visited Tennessee several times, most recently making the trip to Knoxville for the Vols' 38-31 win over Georgia on Oct. 10.

Hardman is ranked the nation's No. 19 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite for the 2016 class.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball points to Georgia as the favorite to land him, with the Bulldogs getting 74 percent of the current predictions, Tennessee getting 16 percent and 5 percent each going to Florida State and Alabama.

From what I've read from online he has a privileged attitude and he supposedly from so called inside sources at UNC that he got kicked off for f!ghting this year. But, I don't know how true either are. Everyone has been pretty hush hush since the incident occurred. As far as Lawing, it seems as if he's staying because he's been really active just like Charles Kelly has. I'm thinking our staff will stay in tact for year

VIP Scoop: Pair of Coaches Visiting Rasul

A pair of Florida State coaches are set to see Coral Gables (Fla.) four-star running back Amir Rasul on Thursday, per Rasul. The coaches set to see the South Florida product are running backs coach Jay Graham and area recruiter Tim Brewster.

The 5-foot-10, 200-pound back recently unveiled plans to officially visit North Carolina on the weekend of January 22nd. Alabama and USC, among others, are also trying to set up official visits with Rasul.

Rasul has previously stated that he doesn't intend to officially visit FSU since he's been there "five times already." We still expect FSU to push for an official visit, potentially on the weekend of January 15th.

The 247Sports.com Composite ranks Rasul as the No. 200 overall prospect and as the No. 7 running back in the nation.
