He didn't fall off, it's just the way he plays the game takes a toll on his body. You can't play that way forever. If anything, this extra time off might've helped him (thought I don't know if he was playing in Russia or not). I would've thought he was skilled enough to know how to play the game as effectively without being that physical, and he still might learn it, but so far it doesn't seem that way.
yes he was playing in Russia and he was leading the KHL in goals if i'm not mistaken. but I still think he will never be a 50 goal scorer again in the NHL. he relies too heavily on his speed and strength and throws his body around too much and it has clearly taken it's toll. he never seemed interested in developing his game to becoming anything more than that. the guy got benched last season cuz he can't play both ways.
anyways i'm kinda glad the lockout is over. was starting to really miss my Caps.
