These fu*ks really don't understand evolution or they just taking the p!ss for shock value.....
"Dentist Dr Stemmer also thinks there could be FEWER TEETH as softer food needs less chewing and biting. He says: “We could even get our nutrition from liquids or pills in the future, which could mean less teeth and receded jaws.”"
Eating soft food wont result in humans having less teeth, continuously breeding with people who naturally have fewer teeth over generations will result in your descendants having fewer teeth. if you only breed with people with a full healthy set of teeth, then your descendants will have teeth just like his ancestors.
I agree with your general point but i think your missing the an big evolutionary possibility ,Depending on an organisms environment the absence of a particular trait can be as beneficial to your survival as having that trait..
using teeth as an example... having fewer teeth may be beneficial to survival ... we have the extra teeth in the past because they made it easier for humans to process particular foods.. now extra teeth mean extra resources the body needs but the teeth don't extend our life span and may actually decrease it..
i.e. maybe a chance for more cavities that can lead to heart disease etc, cost to maintain more teeth vs fewer that could be allocated towards other things to help human survive longer... surviving longer generally means you will have more babies then someone dying sooner, and you are there to take care of them and make sure they survive and thrive etc. carrying on those traits.
this sounds like a reach but major evolutionary progress occurs over 100's of thousands and millions of years
