I Personally blame that godawfully unconstitutional telecommunications act of 1996/97 that really ruined not only the radio, but the whole entertainment industry as a whole.

Thanks to Clinton.

Does he really decide what goes on the air or do the radio station owners decide? I look at program directors as just puppets, no real power. All the power is corporate and above with the suits.
hell no he doesnt decide, someone(corporate owners) tells him what to play and he plays it. he's basically the manger of the station, yes he can get you fired but thats about it. he doesnt decide what to play.

so the early aughts weren't dope either?

Jay's Dynasty and Blueprint 1
Nas's Stillmatic and God's Son
The G-Unit and Diplomat movements
Reflection Eternal's Train of Thought
Ghostface's Supreme Clientele
Jada's Kiss the Game Goodbye and Kiss of death
Styles P.'s Gangsta and a Gentleman
Mos Def's Black on Both Sides (99)
Busta's Genesis
Fab's Ghetto Fabolous
Joe Budden's debut

and that's just New York. Philly was popping with State Prop and Cassidy. East Coast Rap was fine until program directors like Ebro started catering to the Southern one hit wonders like Da Franchise Boys and forced New York rappers to sound like them. That why you had Mims making "This is Why I'm Hot" and Fat Joe making chopped and screwed records with the Runners in the mid-aughts.

it seems like ny is the only place that they don't play local artists on the radio

everywhere else underground local artists will get some burn if they have a local hit song

that whole thing about making it to the big leagues sounds like a bunch of bullsh*t
it's true tho. NY is a big city/state. just cause n*ggas know you on the internet don't mean you should get play. n*ggas know everybody on the internet now, it doesn't even have to be for music, it can just be the way you dress. to play dudes just cause they from Ny is kinda stupid and tellin the listener "we're playin this to support ny hip hop" is not gonna stop the listener from changing the station right to power 105 while you play some Sean Price. Very few people in NYC wanna hear that sh*t.

He's right. And as much as I wanted to come in this thread to just to call him a f*ggot, I can't say he's not right. everybody gotta work.

don't mind them. it's just cool to say that the early 2000s was sh*t without actually lookin at the good music we got out of it. Jay, Diplomats, and G Unit alone made that sh*t live, not to mention all the others you did
