jumping rope is one of the most high impact exercises
^^no its not

if you think about it, when you jump rope you are basically jumping about a couple centimeters above the ground. Thats if you jumping rope properly at least.

eg. look at a boxer doing jump rope, they aint jumping high at alllll

An to add on to this its even less stressful if you jump rope on soft surfaces like grass an soft mats you will save your knees in the long run

what's your guy's opinion on running after your workout? i've been running 30 min after every workout lately(5x a week) rather than running maybe twice a week for an hour.

That's what I do in reverse, I run first then lift. I still manage to have energy to lift but if I don't I'll just go light weights more reps. The gain I get from lifting isn't always the pump but knowing the fact I'm getting resistant physical activity which its really all about.

i was doing that at first too but running takes my energy and i sweat like a mofo after so i figure doing it last. i always remember watching a video of a conditioning coach saying to run after.

running is good, but if it hasn't been mention get some good shoes and then buy news every year or so. Don't be jogging on 5 year old shoes.

Also I'm sure this was said, but if you can try to avoid concrete and jug on dirt, grass, whatever is soft. Your knees will thank you when you're older.

Yeah good shoes is a must, I'd suggest goign to a running store and getting evaluated for a pair.

I was running with just running shoes and developed plantar facisiticis horrible nagging condition, finally has subsided

I'm trying to get back into running, runnign like twice a week so far around 2 miles....never was a long distance guy so its hard for me to get my mileage up

Guys is it fine if I run on grass? Like there's a long path next to the concrete where I run, and instead I use that to jog on even though its not that cut or taken care off, I've been starting to really put in effort into intervals, like I give it all really, but I do that on grass not concrete.

I fu*king feel refresh when I finish doing that

jumping rope has its benefits....its is a full body exerciser, great to shape calf's, and excellent cadio...

but say you weigh 185 pounds...thats 185 pounds smacking down on your knees...at least, not taking into account the force you creating jumping, and that is very similar to running...and we all know that running is a high impact exerciser, and eve the most elite runners in the world suffer from knee (and hip) issues consistently

no, it is not....thats like saying squatting on an "anti fatigue mat" is less stressful on your knees and spine just because....jumping rope is a high impact exercise...google it, it has been proven to be a knee k!ller, just like running

I was sprinting uphill when I first started working out, but then I gradually stopped because the friend I used to go with stopped. I went back to it on thursday, it was more jogging than sprinting but still. I did do that stairmaster sh*t at the gym one of the days this week can't remember which. Might add that once a week to my routine as well as uphill sprints another day maybe treadmill another day...etc
