One should at least vote for the issues in their state and local community (Mayor, Gov., Judges) Our prisons are full of people who were placed in there by corrupt judges voted into office by the people. Elections are a lot bigger than just President and Vice President. You got school board members and county officials running for offices that will decisions that could affect you and your family's lives.

I thought being in line for 5 minutes was bad... Then again I got there 30 minutes before they closed lol... In Chicago you'd think it'd be packed, but in this area everyone goes early and wait long af.

Either because they have fear or think they're know it alls. But just 'cause you aren't voting doesn't mean a person knows more or isn't ignorant as the wave of d!ckriding n*ggaz that are voting to look like they know something on facebook/Twitter. Whatever gives folks that notion is beyond me

Why should I vote? Like a fellow BX member said, your votes don't mean sh*t. It's still the same corrupted Government getting re-elected again, it's a never ending cycle. I'm happy that some of you actually felt good about yourselves today, just don't try and downgrade people WHO don't vote since we see reality quite clearly, on the other hand some of you think your more informed about what's going on since you stood in line and dropped a piece of paper

That no impact sh*t is such bullsh*t though, if everyone thought in that retarded frame of mind there would be ZERO votes at the end of the day.
tell that to all the republicans in california. your vote has an extremely small impact on who wins the presidency

I've always said the vote doesn't carry enough weight for me to be concerned over it. I voted Obama, and my state was still red like dude said earlier, if I was actually concerned about my area I'd focus more on local voting and volunteering for local political causes. But I'm not gonna be living here after November so it's whatever to me

The problem with young people and minorities today is that they are mostly the 40% that don't vote. The trend is gradually changing with Obama, but after him I'm a bit worried. The popular vote does determine the electoral vote 98.9% of the time, so it's a shame when people use this as an excuse not to.

Also some will say, "my state will always be red or blue" and not vote. The electors vote is a winners take all for the state (with exception to a few states that divide electors by county), so the more people who don't vote either strengthen or weaken that margin. Many predict with the increase of Hispanic voters, red states like Texas will become blue in the next decade or so. You know what the old white folks in legislation are doing to scare Hispanics away? Making photo ID mandatory to vote, even if you have a registration card, and school ID won't work (but a gun license will).

Finally, there are people who say "I wish more people would vote green or libretarian". Either of these parties may be a viable option if Republicans continue to be out of touch with modern society. In the meantime, if the Republican and Democrat parties are still a few million supporters strong, I wouldn't even bother voting any other party. There's a reason why there's two really big parties...Andrew Jackson lost his first run for presidency because though he won the popular vote against 4 other candidates, the electoral college was split even amongst the others. In the event of a tie, the House of Representatives select who's president. Now if that happened today, do you really believe a house full of republicans will select your independent party?

Going back to the 40% that don't vote...I'd say out of the 60% that do vote, at least 20% of these people are worth over $200,000. Do you believe someone earning that much money shares the same interests as you? If not, your decision not to vote is essentially 2 votes for them. This may not impact the general election as much, but in terms of the state and city...those votes are k!ller. It only takes about 5,000 or so votes to win local and state elections in cities that have over 2 million residents....like LA, Houston and Chicago. Then when these people start doing foul sh*t, you want to complain.

So really, the 40% of people who don't vote are really ignorant as hell and need to get their heads out of their a.sses and take advantage of a right that wasn't available to most of them not to long ago. Especially women. You wonder why they didn't want us to vote? Because they fear your best interests.

Respect to those who did vote, and even more to those who did not participate.. There's no gray area here, no reason to go back and forth on who's decision makes more sense. Some of us who choose NOT to vote are not doing so to seem like some bad-ass revolutionaries of some sort, but (in my case) to detach from this illusion of Freedom/Democracy. You can throw around numbers and "facts" as you like but this whole process is no different than an episode of Real Housewives or some sort of interactive "reality tv". They bait you in with drama and f!ghts and we ALL know how the people feed off of that. Add to it the propaganda and takeover of social networking, of course everyone wants to Instagram their "I voted" sticker for a social status boost it's all just too much.

i dont vote. in my opinion its the lesser of the two evils, heckle and jeckle, etc...both have pros and cons but i would lean towards democratic because my mom made more money and had more time with the fam...

now if I was voting against communism, nazism, socialism then i would participate. but i read too many conspiracy theories and happen to believe in them. As long as i can still practice my religion, get an education and be treated fairly in the work place, im good.

The Electoral College determines who the president is, So why would we vote if Popular vote dont count? Thats a safeguard for who ever runs this country to make sure the agenda goes as planned, they hype and make us all think that our votes do count, but In all reality it doesen't, Now I did vote this year, but not for president, I left that blank, cause thats they only part of the ballot that doesen't matter, cause thats not in our control, I only went for the section that effects my state.. Fuk the Feds...
