Apple CEO Tim Cook just fired one of Steve Jobs favorite employee Scott Forstall

Are you Apple sheeps happy now? Steve Jobs loved Scott Forstall, he was described by Steves wife as one of the Apple core....it was a core of employees and people that Steve leaned on, it was only 12 people deep yet the firing of one apple core employee(scott forstall) from another apple core employee(tim cook) just shows that Steve's Apple is gone and it's now Tim's Apple

Also, for him to take the brunt of blame for Apple failed products is pathetic...it shows how corporate things are

But Google with the first pick in the 2013 tech employee draft, picks.....Scott Forstall image

___________
The announcement that both Scott Forstall and John Browett are leaving Apple today came as a big surprise to many Apple fans. Browett has only been with Apple for nine months, but Scott Forstall was one of Steve Jobs’ favorite employees and has been with Apple since 1997.

Apple hasn’t released any of the specifics as to why Browett and Forestall are leaving Apple, but we’re a.ssuming they got fired for their missteps from the past 12 months.
Here’s why both of them may have been axed:

Reason for firing Scott Forstall
Siri. When Forstall pitched Siri during the iPhone 4S keynote, the personal a.ssistant looked amazing. It seemed to understand everything Scott asked it and came back with quick replies. The actual product has been quite different though, and some have accused Forstall of over promising and under-delivering on Siri. It was supposed to be a huge selling feature of the iPhone 4S, but now it’s become more of an after-thought and joke.

Apple Maps. By now, everyone is well aware of the horrible reputation Apple Maps has earned. The sad part is, a lot of Apple Maps’ problems were fixable by the iOS development team before the launch. Forstall’s team rushed Maps out before doing a lot of quality a.ssurance and checking their data for discrepancies in public record. The damage done to Apple’s reputation via the Maps mishap has been reason enough to get anyone fired, even Apple’s iOS wonderboy.

iOS development. While Microsoft has come out with an innovative new mobile operating system and Android has added loads of new features, iOS 5 and iOS 6 haven’t been as captivating. Yes, iOS is still an incredible product, but the skeuomorphic leather and wood grain interfaces that Forestall’s teams have added over the last two years have made iOS feel dated. Apple needs to start making some daring steps with iOS to maintain their lead in the mobile space, and Forstall has not appeared to be willing to do so.

Ego. Steve Jobs was a brilliant visionary, known for demanding to have things done his way. Forstall has received unflattering comparisons to Jobs. There have been whispers that Apple’s senior vice presidents avoid having meetings with Forstall unless Tim Cook is present because he has become increasingly difficult to work with. Maybe sometime away from Apple will help Forstall’s leadership abilities mature, just like it helped Steve Jobs.

False, here is the truth:

Update: The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Forstall was asked to resign after refusing to sign his own name to Apple's Maps apology, leaving Tim Cook to sign his name instead. Yikes.

"The 43-year-old Mr. Forstall recently told people that there is no "decider" now that Mr. Jobs is gone, according to a person briefed on the conversation.

Mr. Forstall also recently sent some members of Apple's iOS software team an email saying he felt the group wasn't working on enough big ideas in mobile software, according to a person briefed on the email."

This sh*t right here is so true. Google Now just got updated to give you Google Now cards and notifications about package shipments and tracking details by pulling the information from emails you receive automatically. Same with hotel reservations, flights, restaurant reservations, concert tickets and sh*t. Cmon son, iOS is falling way behind. But Forstall is bi*chmade for not taking responsibility for Maps.

I never did like dude any way. He was way too c*cky because of his relationship with Steve. But at least this sends the message to ALL Apple employees that no one is safe after a great fu*k up and that they need to step the game up if they want those payroll checks to keep rolling in.

I'm interested to see where this is heading. I love Jonathan Ive's design sense, so if it leads to an improved iOS then I'm all for it.

I bet Forestall is being cornered by Samsung right now.

while aesthetically it's nice to see something different from model to model, is that really what's important? All I care aout is how the hardware and software work together, as well as pushing the envelope. And honestly, I think google is the one pushing the market right now in terms of innovation, but goddamn I fu*king love apple's OS.

There is a big imac thread somewhere on here where people will argue you down that the design is one of the major contributors to apple's rise over the last 10-15 years so I guess it is a big issue to some.
