FDR drive a highway that runs on the east side, yeah underwater completely gone, over done.

[pic - click to view]

The water goes up to the roadway signs, to give you an idea... The roadway signs are 30feet above your head when driving on the road. Yeah 20feet of water on the east side, and we barely into high tide.

Streets keep collapsing under the force, like literally the streets just cave in from the water.

[pic - click to view]

update, trapped men and women are not waiting on boats... and i just lost power
its starting to flicker in and out here in nyc.

update...
still no word from anyone in the city, i have no clue where my peoples are. LES is gone, only way around is by boat, soho area is starting to float as more water reaches the middle of the city. East side of Manhattan is just finished, for weeks we will have water as high as parked cars, cars are just floating around over there now.

no power, all the streets up to half the island is flooded, and river just keeps going back. people are running back, and the water keeps coming.

update
Winds till tuesday afternoon.
Rain expected till wed...
the surge continues to move up the to the middle of the island from the east side.

water up to the roof of cars in many areas.

Also, a hospital, one of the biggest actually... Is now under evacuation, the generator just gave out, they have no more power. Patients on life support etc will need to be moved quicky!

But the problem is there arnt enough boats in the city. There is no way to drive there, all the areas that were once regular streets filled with traffic, and taxi's are not canals for boats.
Fema working on getting some boats to help people...

deaths coming in slowly, people dying from debris, trees, and drowning so far. Some children too. Water and current from winds too much for the lil one.

The city will not have power for a very long time, the salt water has destroyed the lower regions of the subway system.

More pics

Water has turned ground zero into a swimming pool.

[pic - click to view]

Tried to hold the water back... inside train tunnels, but its simply too much. Our tunnel flooded with salt water.

Buildings keep collapsing all over, one after another. Streets caving in from water weight.
Possible damages to tunnels expected to occur, the water can cause cave ins. And right now battery park is filled and funneling water water into the city.

[pic - click to view]

If you know nyc... Water from les pushing to 34th street. And its not stopping, just keeps getting high and higher.

NYC has areas with soft foundations, so we are just seeing a sickening amount of buildings falling.

Pushing close to 11foot of water in some areas of the city. Basically FEMA should have fuking got boats, you cannot drive in these conditions and buildings are coming down. WTF! Have we learned nothing from our past. I dont want to see the death toll when this is over, the unreported dead has to be in the hundreds.

Massive issues with NYU hospital, patients on life support, and the sick and injured need to be evacuated!

Problem is... How can we do this we tiny rafts the FDNY are rolling on. A lifesupport patient cant be easily swam to higher ground.

Might see lives lost if they dont figure it out soon. Water creeps up over the middle of NYC now.

Im out for a while, im still in shock, cant believe this is happening its like 2012 movie, buildings, roads collapsing everywhere, water levels wont stop rising, the city getting more and more flooded ever min. This is a nightmare. Our infrastructure is ruined. Our electrical wiring is flooded with salt water, our grid is flooded and burned up. No phones or power in the city. Like, this is hands down the worst thing ive ever seen happen to my city.

Im just fortunate to live literally 5-8 miles up. Because brooklyn is like a hill going up to the north. Im just lucky to be at the top *far north* if i were 10mi south id have to evacuate.

I got power, some food, no guns :(, still got water. Nothing has fallen, and no flooding outside.

Ty for all those who wished me well. GL to those in NYC, and your families. The death count for this will be devastating. All i can do is brace myself, and hope none of my fams/friends were hurt. Still no word though.

At least 10 dead, 5.2 million without power as Sandy pummels the East Coast

Superstorm Sandy slammed into the East Coast Monday, k!lling at least 10 people, hurling a record-breaking 13-foot surge of seawater at New York City and knocking out power to an eastimated 5.2 million people.

The massive storm was downgraded from a hurricane after it barged ashore in southern New Jersey, bringing more than 85-mph winds and a roiling wall of seawater as it moved through New York City. It sent water surging into two major commuter tunnels and into subway stations and tracks. It was unclear how much water had come in.

The 10 deaths were in New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. Police in Toronto said a woman was k!lled by a falling sign as high winds closed in on Canada's largest city.

The power was out for hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers and an estimated 5.2 million people altogether across the East, with the full extent of the storm's damage across the region unclear and unlikely to be known until daybreak.

The MTA cut power to some subway tunnels in lower Manhattan, after water came into the stations and tracks. The MTA couldn't say at this point how much damage had been done, and how much time it would take to restore everything to normal.
The hurricane-turned-post-tropical cyclone, still a powerful, 900-mile-wide hybrid of several weather systems, sent 30-foot-high swells toward New Jersey, and as its eye passed over the shoreline, a surge as high as 10 feet tore into dunes and washed across boardwalks.
In Washington, President Obama urged the millions in Sandy’s path to heed warnings from local and state officials.

“When they tell you to evacuate, you need to evacuate,” Obama said. “Don't delay, don't pause, don't question the instructions that are being given because this is a powerful storm."

States of emergency were declared from North Carolina, where gusty winds whipped steady rain on Sunday, to Connecticut. Delaware ordered mandatory evacuations for coastal communities on Sunday, while Ocean City, Md., also was evacuated.

Tens of thousands of people were ordered to evacuate in anticipation of the storm, including 375,000 in lower Manhattan and other parts of New York City. At least 50,000 were ordered to evacuate in Delaware alone and 30,000 in Atlantic City, N.J., where the city's 12 casinos were forced to shut down for only the fourth time in the 34-year history of legalized gambling there.

I live in brooklyn i explained a couple posts back. We only lost power for a couple mins thankfully.

Most of our electricity is below ground. NYC is an island which is why they have city wide outtage.

Im on the north side of brooklyn, high ground.

Those on the south in areas like coney island are fuked though 3 feet+ water is low there. The residence looks like the beach.

The crime must be soaring, and we wont know till power is on what happened all over the city. People could shot and k!lled, robbed, r*ped. And no one would know till things improve very dangerous situation. NYC does not allow guns, so you expected to defend yourself in a situation like this. Those with guns, have a massive upper hand, as most nyc'ers dont believe in defending themselves. They usually call 911... But hey no 911 for next 2 days, good luck.

Yayyyyy possible melt down, or nuclear disaster... And the officials are saying "oh dont worry the water wont rise for much longer..." Obviously they have weather down 100% accurate... NOT! I wish they would stop telling people everything is okay, if the nuclear plant is in danger they need to speak up, better to evacuate than to leave it to chance.

N.J. nuclear plant on alert as state struggles to cope with Sandy’s surge
WASHINGTON — America’s oldest nuclear power plant is on alert after waters from a colossal storm reached high levels.

Oyster Creek in Lacey Township, New Jersey, was already offline for regular maintenance before Sandy, a superstorm downgraded Monday night from a hurricane, slammed the East Coast.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission says an “unusual event” was declared around 7 p.m. when water reached a high level. The situation was upgraded less than two hours later to an “alert,” the second-lowest in a four-tiered warning system.

Federal officials say all nuclear plants are still in safe condition. They say water levels near Oyster Creek, which is along the Atlantic Ocean, will likely recede within a few hours.

I really hope people are smart enough not to listen to feds... Old Nuclear plant + rising tides + rain fall= GET THE fu*k OUT NOW!
