Manningham has looked good for some time now. It's just official now that he's off the list. Crab looks better than expected at this point but the team still doesn't expect him back before Thanksgiving. Hopefully he can be closer to last season than his previous years when he returns.
The Aldon situation is the most uncertain of them all. They are contemplating not letting him back for the rest of the season as sort of a punishment and a way to let him help himself without the distraction of football and what the life of an NFL player brings. They have even enlisted his mother in the process(more so she forced herself in
) to keep him in line. She was very disappointed in a lot of things that she has found he's done since getting to the NFL. Also, the thinking behind letting him sit for the year is a way to hopefully keep the NFL from hitting him with more down the line.
If it gets his attention and allows him to be a defensive MVP caliber guy for the next ten years then I don't care if he sits out the year. I just don't want him caught up in the shuffle and out the game in two years because he couldn't control his urges or hold himself accountable.
As for the other guys we recently had come off the PUP or reserve list, they all look like they are ready to contribute so practices will ramp up the rest of the way competitively. The only bad part is some of the guys that have shown some promise as backups will be released. The challenge of having a deep, talented football team I guess. They may even try to trade someone to acquire a better backup QB since they aren't enamored with any of the backups we have now. That's the one position we aren't deep at.
