These younger cats that are shocked by the murder rate in the Chi were still in diapers back then. I remember when the murders damn near hit 1000 in Chicago. I have a shoe box full of memorial handouts from the 90's. What's happening right now is definitely foul...but if you done came up in Chicago in the 80's and 90's this is nothing new. It's messed up, but cats in my circle are basically de-sensitized to the violence.
Yep, look at the other years in the past where Chicago had more murders than NY/LA and led the country like 1998, 2001, and 2003. The city was worse then, than now. When we were murder capital in 1998 we had 704, when we were murder capital in 2001 we had 667. when we were murder capital in 2003 we had 601. 2012 is another murder capital year, but it wont catch either 1998, 2001, or 2003. Chicago was wayyyy grimier in the 90's. 2012 is not even the worst year of this century (so far). Early 2000's Chicago back when we still wore the long tshirt, baggy pants, big pelle pelles and avirex jackets was wilder than now.
Guys in the CHI back in the 90's and early 2000's didnt shoot for fun, they were shooting to k!ll. These kids out here now just shooting blindly, hoping to hit something. That's why you hear stories now like, "20 people shot, 1 dead". Dudes in the 90's and early 2000's were going strictly for k!llshots. People now shoot alot at random. In the 90's and early 2000's 3 or 4 bodies would pop up every day in the city. Now, the shooting to homicide ratio is lower than the past.
