IMO it's not very good parenting when you look at it in a long run (when these girls will be in there 20's). You can only control them for so long, but when curiousity starts kicking in, kids that were brought up in such a strict manner tend to take their urge to explore way too far. And resentment is another issue that is common with such a strict up-bringing, especially the "choosing their sports activities for them" part.
In atleast 3 out of 5 cases imo, kids brought up in this manner never end up how their parents had hoped they would because once they try something they were deprived of for so long and enjoy it, there's no turning back from that point.
