The second episode back was the episode with the shootout, which was easily the best episode since the break.
First two were garbage. If you liked that sh*t, good for you.

A whole episode without the governor or Andrea and it's the best episode of this half season. Shocking.

just because the last ten minutes were good doesn't mean the whole episode was. The first 2 eps this half were terrible.

still dont understand people. this show is about character build. not about shooting fu*king zombies

if they do that every episode it wont keep the audience intrigued.

if you read the comics its about character build. dont like it, dont watch it

Nah, he's the staff writer coming in as the new showrunner. The director of Clear was newcomer Tricia Brock.

The episode was written by longtime staff writer and incoming showrunner Scott M. Gimple, and directed by series newcomer Tricia Brock, best known for her work on things like White Collar and Saving Grace. They used storytelling techniques like an “identifiable” zombie who isn’t part of the central cast; and signs of life and civilization that have been largely missing for a year or so now on the show, as storytelling tools. It feels odd, out of place, in the world of The Walking Dead.

AMC's The Walking Dead may be the most gripping show on television, brimming with superlative effects and wonderfully flawed heroes.

by CHRISTIAN TOTO 4 Mar 2013

The show's most noteworthy element is Daryl, the redneck rebel played by Norman Reedus. He's a southern boy to the core, surly at times but always ready to slay a zombie when necessary. And when the world is overrun with zombies, that means Daryl is one busy redneck.

The "redneck" label is why Reedus' character is so subversive. Hollywood routinely diminishes southern characters, mocking their faith, their manners (or lack thereof) and other regional attributes. Daryl long ago shed most demeaning Southern tics, emerging as both a fan favorite and an example of television scribes writers pushing past stereotypes.

The character remains loyal to his brother, Merle (Michael Rooker), an unabashed racist who remains a threat to our heroes despite turning against the show's human villains early in the current season. Their bond is complicated, to be sure, fine fodder for current and future story lines. But Daryl sees something redeeming in Merle even if virtually every Dead viewer can't.

Daryl is hardly a hormone-driven hunk. He's not much for romance despite the gentle advances from fellow survivor Carol (Melissa McBride), and he's the last character to sugarcoat the reality they all face.

"This is a tomb," he said during a recent episode when Carol welcomed him back to the group's prison sanctuary after a brief separation.

The show's heroes rely on Daryl's strength, his hunting skills and his knack for being in the right place at the right time. More importantly, he's become a de facto leader, the person the survivors look to in times of trouble.

None of this would be possible without Reedus's knack for embracing Daryl's culture without demeaning it. The actor, best known for the Boondock Saints franchise, doesn't exaggerate his roots, but he also won't let us forget where's he's from all the same. With one squint Reedus conveys the pain of living in a post-apocalyptic world as well as the sense he'll go down f!ghting no matter the odds. It's a terrific balancing act, one that gives the show's writers the freedom to make Daryl a superlative hero.

The series is famous for k!lling off key characters, but it's hard to imagine the writing team angering fans by dispatching Daryl to the hordes of hungry zombies.

The viewer outrage would be palpable, and it would be a blow to television to see such a groundbreaking character meet his maker.

The problem is that you have to have three-dimensional, interesting characters if that's the case. Most of the characters on this show are cardboard cutouts. One-dimensional. Either that, or whiney and annoying.
It's getting that way for sure. I know people are tired of it, but Shane brought such a huge dramatic turn to the characters. That tension within the group really added something to the drama. Now, it's just people sitting around a prison doing laundry.

At that time, Carl wouldn't have done it either.

You also gotta remember that Carl eventually was on the road seeing the very world change while Duane was holed up with his pops in the crib chillin

By far it's the best episode of season 3. Ties everything together with the best episode of the series (the pilot)

lol how is that remotely possible.

Rick is INCREDIBLY complex, you saw the man go from incredibly optimistic, to the darkest, craziest person on the show and because of his run in with Morgan and his relationship with Michonne he's growing into something greater.

We are finally learning more about Michonne and finding out she isn't some ruthless zombie k!ller with a sword.

Glenn by far is the most complex character on the show. Dealing with the near r*pe of his girlfriend, watching the man who is supposed to be leading them lose his mind and seeing their best f!ghter in darryl nearly leave the crew. He's become a leader, he's outspoken, he has grit.

We've even see Darryl go from being a near racist hick to being an emotional man. He is EASILY the most one dimensional character on the show and by far everyones favorite.

And I hate to break it to you, but people are ALL whiny and annoying in real life. People bi*ch and moan and complain. It's on every news cycle, every blog, you right now are being whiny and annoying. What do you really want from the show exactly?!
