But Pac is my fav rapper so its a unfair list but that cd i play every other day, as for any pac album. I think his content is still relevant and it was so far ahead of its time message wise

Ready To Die wins
Reasonable Doubt comes second

Illmatic and Me Against The World are not as good as some claim it is
you base it on what ????

pac's album was more real and had more heart into it true emotion @ that time he had alot of sh*t going on in his life.......just being shot, accused of r*pe, in jail etc.

You gotta understand his state of mind while going through all that also

Not that its a better album than the others that's why its the better album to me. But with that said maybe thats why alot of you guys are saying the others aged better

People are getting confused with their personal preference and generally aging well. If you look at it objectively, you can take any verse or hook from RD and it would fit in todays market perfectly. You could easily imagine Mary J's hook on cant knock the hustle as a hook for wayne or drake or whoever the fu*k is poppin right now.

You cant say the same for Illmatic, even if you would bump that sh*t all daye everyday, you cant release, NY state of mind or halftime today and make it fit into the current market and sound. It has that distinct 90's tone to it.

RD has a lot more soul and soothing beats, and jay's lyrics were on point as if it was written today.

Both MATW and RTD sound dated as hell. except maybe a couple songs.

All classics, I vote reasonable doubt, ready to die, illmatic and then me against the world, for dudes discounting PAC... Honestly who can spit sh*t like this consistently besides PAC? Too many 19 year old riff raff, Mac miller loving a.ss uneducated hip hop heads around nowadays..

2PAC LYRICS
"Me Against The World"
(feat. Dramacydal)

[2Pac:]
It's just me against the world

[Verse 1: 2Pac]
Can you picture my prophecy?
Stress in the city, the cops is hot for me
The projects is full of bullets, the bodies is droppin
There ain't no stoppin me
Constantly movin while makin millions
Witnessin k!llings, leavin dead bodies in abandoned buildings
Can't raise the children cause they're illin
Addicted to k!llin and the appeal from the cap peelin
Without feelin, but will they last or be blasted?
Hard headed bastard
Maybe he'll listen in his casket - the aftermath
More bodies being buried - I'm losing my homies in a hurry
They're relocating to the cemetary
Got me worried, stressin, my vision's blurried
The question is will I live? No one in the world loves me
I'm headed for danger, don't trust strangers
Put one in the chamber whenever I'm feelin this anger
Don't wanna make excuses, cause this is how it is
What's the use unless we're shootin no one notices the youth
It's just me against the world baby

[Girl:]
Me against the world
[2Pac:]
It's just me against the world
[Girl:]
Ooooh yeah, ooo-hooo
[2Pac:]
It's just me against the world
[Girl:]
Me against the world
[2Pac:]
Cause it's just me against the world baby
[Girl:]
Hey!
[2Pac:]
Me against the world
[Girl:]
Ooooh yeah
[2Pac:]
I got nuttin to lose
It's just me against the world baby
[Girl:]
I got nothing to lose

[Verse 3: 2Pac]
With all this extra stressin
The question I wonder is after death, after my last breath
When will I finally get to rest? Through this supression
They punish the people that's askin questions
And those that possess, steal from the ones without possessions
The message I stress: to make it stop study your lessons
Don't settle for less - even a genius asks-es questions
Be grateful for blessings
Don't ever change, keep your essence
The power is in the people and politics we address
Always do your best, don't let the pressure make you panic
And when you get stranded
And things don't go the way you planned it
Dreamin of riches, in a position of makin a difference
Politicians and hypocrites, they don't wanna listen
If I'm insane, it's the fame made a brother change
It wasn't nuttin like the game
It's just me against the world

[Girl:]
Me against the world
[2Pac:]
Nuttin to lose
It's just me against the world baby
[Girl:]
Me against the world
[2Pac:]
Got me stuck in the game
It's just me against the world
[Girl:]
Oahahhhh
[2Pac:]
I'd be ashamed to lose
It's just me against the world baby
[Girl:]
Me against the world

[Outro: 2Pac]
Heh, hahahahahahah
That's right
I know it seem hard sometimes but uhh
Remember one thing
Through every dark night, there's a bright day after that
So no matter how hard it get, stick your chest out
Keep your head up, and handle

I don't think Pac's catalogue has aged very well at all. Nothing about it sounds modern.

Same goes for "The Lox".. They got a fair amount of hits but them n*ggas rapped on so many Casio keyboard beats..

If the list was being fair it would be

LAD, AEOM, RD and It Was Written

simply because they are all in the same time frame

Me Against The World was recorded between 1993- 1994 as was RTD and Illmatic was partly recorded in 1993

While RD was mainly recorded between 1995 and 1996

There was a huge leap in hip hop at the end of 95

Take a record like "If I Ruled The World", listen to the production and mixing on that and compare it to any song off Illmatic and you'll see it blows it out of the water as far as overall mainstream song

Same goes for AEOM e.g Cali Luv, Ambtionz Az a Rida, Mad At Cha

and LAD e.g Hypnotize, Long Kiss etc...

IWW, AEOM/MAKAVELI, LAD and in a different league...

BIGGIE, Pac and Nas had huge budgets for those albums, the best engineers money could buy, the best stuidos, the best mastering houses...thus the quality is official

Put it this way get any Rick Ross song and try to turn it up in ur ride without it starting to sound distorted, now put on a song such as Cali Luv or Hypnotize and turn that up, and watch the louder it gets the better it sounds, everything is in sync...thats because Pac and Bigs albums were mixed by grammy winning rock engineers using analogue while Rozay sh*t is all digital, so it suffers from the clipping

because I wanted to compare four 90's classics from the GOATs. Pac's earliest widely accepted classic is MATW.

but like you said, all those albums benefited hugely off the commercial boom that happened in hip hop during that time, therefore I already feel it's common consensus that they all have still maintained a "fresh" sound.

I wanted to take 4 classics , the earliest ones from the GOATs, and the most highly regarded ( since most people on here feel Illmatic > IWW and R2D > LAD ) I had to take the top ones which were the debuts for most of the GOATS. Since it's clear that these albums didn't benefit from the high dollar budgets the sophmore albums did, I thought that it would be a better debate.
