Not going back and forth about Big, I didnt like him as much as other people did. Im from South Florida, so that east coast ny rap wasnt our Steez kid.

But over time, I recognize his legendary status, but that dont mean I still dont have my opinion.

The End.

He wasnt no Poppa, only time he got bi*ches is when he got money, that aint a Poppa, thats a trick now you coming out like you the fu*kin Don of New York - Tupac the Goat Shakur

The End Again.

If you don't like his music and you still force yourself to listen to it then you are our bi*ch and we can call you any name we please and I promise it will hurt you enough to make you repeatedly mention it.

If some 12 year old white tells me Emenim is better than Rakim I wouldn't care because your opinion is worthless.

A Black man told you he likes Ross over Biggie and it has captivated your attention to the point of distraction because his opinion is worth more than your life.
Retro already exposed you for how you post and your ways of avoiding points and questions.
No point in responding to someone who can't answer questions and provide good examples.

I would imagine that a piece of work that the consensus is that it is great, by professional critics and the masses, that marks a period in time.

or something like that.

by that definition yes.

Not really my thing, but it had some good songs on it, but the consensus was that it was a great album.

Nope.
My definition of a classic is an album that is constantly praised, can withstand the test of time, and has a huge impact on the listeners.

It needs to be an album that people that listen to mainly other genres of music can appreciate.

For example i had someone in my math class that didn't like rap, seemed like a rock only listener so imagine how surprised i was when he was listening to illmatic.
He actually really liked the album too.

wouldnt consensus cover the genre crossing.

I think there is a couple flaws with what your saying but thats with anything i guess. You have to remember that its people who grew up listening to 90's era of rap that are in the right positions today to do all this praising.

One day, that 13-21 yr old kid today is gonna be 30-40 in the same positon and who do think he will be praising?

But I get what you are saying.
