Charles Barkley's Sidekick Kenny Smith Says NO NBA Player Right Now Is Worth The Money They Get

I just don't understand how you can say that these players aren't worth the money they get paid when even guys with max contracts are still seeing pennies compared to what the NBA makes off of these guys, They've made BILLIONS off Kobe,Lebron and Shaq's careers ALONE! and now they force people to go to college and play for free while some coach gets a million dollars and the school/Ncaa profit off their image and talents. Thats just me though , how yall feel bout it is kenny hating because benchwarmers are making more in 3 years then he did his entire career?

Amen.

We should base it off Michael Jordan's salary before the 2 1-year 30 million dollar contracts... He was winning rings getting paid like 4 million a year until his last 2 years where he balled out.

Most of the bums in the league making more than Jordan did in his prime

I guess in the long run, contract money ain't important, it's what you do with it and how you invest it is what is important. Oh and endorsements help

I think he would reword that if given the chance to repeat that.

None of the players are worth what they're paid? Nah. From a production standpoint you could say a lot of players are overpaid, even Kobe, but look what kobe brings to your franchise? you know how many people wouldn't be Laker fans if Kobe got traded tomorrow?

If these guys bring in money for the franchises, how do you justify that they are over paid? who should get the money their responsible for bringing in?

to a certain extent he is right.

what I think is most players in the nba are overpaid.

and you will always have overpaid players because for one you basically have to bid for them.

if their wasn't so many teams you could control a little bit on how much you would pay a certain player.

and what about the fact that superstar rookies have to take pennies on their first contract now while their team and the league makes 8 figure profits off him alone.

take into consideration how much money they generate for the franchise, for the city, and how many jobs they create. now take all of that into account and how much money are they seeing from that annually? a small percentage. they aren't overpaid.

if you compare their jobs to other jobs like physicians, nurses, police officers, etc., then yeah their salaries tower in comparison but do those jobs generate revenue? are you willing to pay extra on your taxes to see these professionals get paid a comparative wage? chances are you'd scoff at the idea. the point is, these players generate a huge amount of income annually - they deserved to be broken off.
