i ain't expect nas to go gold in his 1st week

if i was gonna guess, i would have said 80k-100k.

i bet by like october he'll be around 3-350k sold. he needs to drop "bye baby" as a single
He didn't go gold, fu*ktard. Gold is 500k. I do think he will get there, though, and the album is pretty decent. I bought it.

he dropped an album that tried to fit in with today's rap. wasn't it obvious ross influenced some of this sh*t?

u cant say its terrible numbers compared to his peers, then say he won cause he from the 90s. jay and em from the 90s too. nas went from a platinum artist on columbia to a non gold artist on def jam. its just another case of bad business choices. he shouldnt never did that lame sh*t signing under jay
I didn't feel a Rick Ross influenced vibe on this album. Some tracks may have been over produced and maybe that's what you mean. I felt some late nineties post Life After death type stuff. The stuff Nas couldn't capture on I Am and Nastradamus he captured here.

I don't know about the business stuff but I didn't say he won because he is from the nineties. I said he won because his peers...the ones from the nineties in Jay and Em aren't willing to make the same music they did in the late nineties early 2000s, while Nas not only is willing but pulled it off like he would have if he was in 20s.

Nas not going Platinum has absolutely nothing to do with signing to Def Jam under Jay, or any other business decision he has made, for that matter. It has to do with two fundamental realities:

1) It's 2012. How many hip hop artists have a realistic shot at going platinum in today's market? Jay, Eminem, Kanye, and maybe still Wayne?. Who else?

2) Nas had no k!ller hit single that swept the nation on its feet.

The album still went number 1, is still absolute fire, and is still easily the album of the year, so far.

Because they're mad over the fact that their favorite artist is too scared to drop a pure Hip-Hop album like Nas just did.

co-sign 100%

Rappers today are lucky to do 80k first week other than the usual suspects (Wayne, Drake, Kanye, Jay, Em)

Then you have your Lupes, J.Coles, Wales and people like Ross who can barely go GOLD+

you expected Nas to do 200,000+ first week in 2012????

Nas just sold more first week than alot of rappers out there who's on the radio all day.

at the haters in here, you can't please everybody. But anyway, congrats to the God Nasir. He made a classic. It's hip-hop to the fullest (he even dedicated a few tracks to the "trapped in the 90's n*ggas"). And is still doing numbers. That's a WIN!

btw that's 6 Number 1 albums haters :nasmad:

Only fans of n*ggas who can't sell albums say that fu*king bullsh*t

Drake did 4 times the numbers of Nas in the first week of his second album
Drake had a lot of r&b slow jams and we all know bi*ches buy more albums than n*ggas.

its crazy that like 99% of artists (not named Adele) only have their first week numbers to feel good about because after that its straight up basement status
